Hunt must step-up to prove Origin pedigree

Honestly no one knows at this point, so many things can change between now and when a run on halves spot opens up.

Hunt is not complete nor is he anywhere close to as bad as people like M4L make out.

As far as big calls that he will never have a run on spot in origin is just as ridiculous as if someone said he is a certainty. No one knows so move on.

I feel like it would take longer to bring in a halfback than a 5/8th. Not to mention we already have Morgan there. For that reason I think Hunt should be the next cab off the rank. Not to mention he would make a very good 5/8th while one of thurston/cronk are still there. Taylor isn't close enough to replace either of those but could force out one of milford/hunt/morgan after a few years.

I think for some reason Hunt is woefully underrated by most on here this year. His attack has been as good if not better than other years. His game management hasn't improved and he is letting milford unsuccessfully take the big moments. His defence isn't nearly as bad as the stats make out. He tackles like he plays in the middle with big front on its that are high risk high reward although he doesn't use this style on the try line. I can not think of one time it has lead to a line break this season either. He is often the first down field for kick chases as well and gets beaten in the one on one which exacerbates his stats. That said he is far from a perfect defender. He can have a positive impact in defence while being about middle of the park for defensive errors.

I wonder why the Broncos don't let Macca do some clearing kicks on the last. Have hunt go to dummy half for the last tackle every now and then.

Hunt needs to show composure under pressure to be selected for QLD, the finals this year will be telling if he's up to it or not.

Morgan and Milford have runs on the board in that department.

Tackles:

Thurston has actually missed a higher % of tackles this year than what Hunt has missed

Hunt: 294 (57 missed); missed tackle % = 19%
Thurston: 178 (44 missed); missed tackle % = 24%

Kicks:

Hunt has also made a more meters from kicks than Thurston has,

Hunt has kicked 157 times for a gain of 4450m
Thurston has kicked 156 times for a gain of 3961m

Kick meters just means our forwards and back three aren't making enough meters during the set. Coote also does a lot of the cowboys long kicking.

Haha i love this sort of thing around here.
"Prove this...."
"Ok"*posts stats*
"Nah doesnt prove anything cause(insert caveat here)"
Classic...

Probably religious.

Do we still think Hunt 'has' an origin pedigree?

He played well, had a shit pass, but was certainly not to blame for what happened tonight.

I don't blame him soley for tonight's debacle, but he has not been playing anywhere near his best all season.

The best thing I can say about him right now is that at least he's playing better than Million Dollar Milford.

Just thought I'd come in and say that i thought Hunt did plenty of good things tonight.

His kicking game was excellent tonight, and we should short kick off, drop out more often.

Yeah, but we lost so Hunt was obviously shit.

After tonight Hunt is officially BHQs scapegoat. He was one of our best and his kicking was fantastic (something he is constantly criticised for and we are told he can't improve), yet for people to come in here and make comments like he shouldn't be in first grade after tonight's game shows that you are just making him a scapegoat and pushing a very tired agenda.
