I'd be happy with Ash-troturfJust remember people, the grass might look greener on the other side, but if you jump the fence it might turn out to be astroturf....
I wouldn't say lean years.. players are released from the final year of their contact every other week now. We'd only need to go this year without him really in which we still have Hunt.Sorry for sounding like a broken record but I have every faith that we'll see Ash Taylor back in Broncos colours. Regional Queensland blokes are strong in their convictions and have a fierce sense of loyalty. If a mentor shows faith and then does the right thing by your best interests, you're forever in debt (in a positive way). Add to that the Broncos are gods to regional supporters (which Ash is) and there's zero chance that he won't return if and when there is a reasonable opportunity.
I can't quite work out how this will happen without a couple of lean years for us as the inherent strength of character will tie him to repaying the titans, but I do have faith that the Coast will find a way to **** up again, at which time Bennett will open his arms, once again.
What Bennett did by releasing him (in Ash' best interests) was incredibly brave, but let's not forget who calculating Wayne is.
I don't dislike Hunt, I'm merely frustrated by his lack of character (not his skill). He has proven it once again with his departure and Bennett has surely engineered this in a softly, softly approach.
This gives me much needed confidence in my team that we're willing to make the extremely tough decisions once again. Love ya work Wayne! All the best to Hunt and I sincerely hope he hits his best again.
Great. We're fucked now.
We now have no halfback for next year.
Just fucking great.
Hunt haters have got their wish at last, must be doing handstands. Every one of you should hang your heads in shame.
Footy equivalent of Nero fiddling while Rome burns.
There ain't no big fish going next year.
We're going to have a long few years.
Can't wait to make all the Hunt Haters chew on it.
That won't happen.. he will be hungrier than ever nowI tend to agree. Though I'm not convinced that we'll play Hunt all year. He'll get first crack and when his foot eases off the throttle, he'll be back to ISC. We need to look at our young guys and forego this season's aspiration if that happens. Until then, were still a chance.
why you so pissed a bunch of people on a forum.... why don't you get on the phone to Wayne Bennett and Paul White and tear them a new arse each.Hunt Haters can't answer the question as to where to from here.
Who is available in 2018 that will play for the pittance that we are going to offer. Names people.
Based on the criticism of Hunt on here they must have:
1) a flith kicking game - like a repeat set every 2 sets
2) to set up heaps of tries from kicks
3) game management - never makes a bad call in the last 10 minutes
4) be willing to play for 400 - 600 k per year....
Names please.
Can we please stop with the term "Hunt Hater", literally nobody on here hates Hunt, there's just some people who were more critical of his flaws than others. Doesn't mean we "hate" him, in fact I think most of us like him.
Like when alfie left in 1999... hang on we won the comp the next season. Get a grip, talent pops up all the time. I'm no hunt hater, but an opportunity has just arisen for someone to grab if they have the balls... lets see what happens next.
I love optimism as much as anyone but let's not lose our heads here but how hard it is to replace your half and it work.
Alf retires.
Walker, Walters out of retirement, Walker again, Ikin out of retirement, Shane Walker, Toni Carroll, Perry, Berrigan, Hunt, Wallace, Capewell, Gillett, Green, Harrison, Hodges, Hunt, Lacey, Marsh, Prince, Seymour.
Did I leave anyone out?
The term will stop being used as long as "Luke Brooks is good" or any other variation lying about his skills is never used again on this forum. Also come on, overly critical is a load of crap. You know what hater means in 2017 and you're just being dramatic. You specifically, Unbreakable acted like a hater in the modern use of the word.
Jayden Nikorima is another runnimg half whose running game isn't as good as Hunt. So whilst not upgrading in the department we need to, we are also not upgrading in any way whatsoever.
I feel sorry for him, really. Must have been a hard choice for Ben - but when you have a young kid, your priorities change. It's the difference between a secure future for your baby and a what if scenario.
My position is still pretty much the same, I want Hunt to improve this year and like everyone else, I want the Broncos to win the comp this year.
Millions, upon millions of people can raise a kid on a dual income of less than $150,000 a year. So I find this whole family thing nothing more than convenient cop out.
The Luke Brooks comment was a joke because people seem to think he's good and they're wrong because he's shit.May I ask what Luke Brooks has to do with the term "Hunt Hater"? I've never hated Hunt, you're welcome to go back over my last 7,000 posts scouring for anything that says so. I've criticised him as much as anyone, if not more, but that doesn't equal hatred. I was only so critical of him because I genuinely believed he was going to be our version of Langer, especially after how he played during the 2015 regular season. But he shit the bed big time in the 2015 finals, and regressed during 2016. If he was the same age as Milford I could've forgiven him & would be devastated about losing him, but he's had so many years to improve in the areas we're critical of, so many chances to prove he can be a consistent Halfback and simply put, he hasn't (enough), time's up. Next man up.
