Israel Folau - Bulldogs

Unlimited salary cap. How do we spend it?

Thought I would give this piece of news it's own thread.

Who do you think the Bulldogs will shed?

How old are negotiations? Was Folau ever going to be at the Eels long term? And is this a good signing for the Dogs?

They will surely have to lose Barba or Morris to get Folau.

Surely if the dogs sign Izzy they wouldn't put him on the wing.

Maybe centre but you would think he'd play FB meaning Barba might be on the way out?

Another interesting thing I noticed on that link..

SHOOSH III

WE keep hearing Benji Marshall is being offered around to rival clubs with no success. They are all baulking at his asking pric

According to ZeroTackle.com: Kris Keating, Mitch Brown, Drury Low, John Sila, Tim Browne, Dene Halatau, Trent Hodkinson & Tim Lafai are all off contract. I'd imagine they'll lose the bulk of those and that would free up some change. With the release of a player like Josh Morris, I can see them affording Folau. Even if Josh Morris and those players don't cover it, I'd imagine the Dogs would just release Kasiano and they'd be right.

What I want to know is, how will the Dragons be able to afford J. Moz?

How Old Are The Negotiations?

Judging by the rumours, I'd go as far back to at least 2012. I'm purely speculating here, but I imagine the original plan was for Folau to see out his AFL stint and return to the NRL via Canterbury-Bankstown in 2014. However, things changed.

Was Folau ever going to be at the Eels long term?

No, I'd imagine the deal would have been for a year. Sure, his mind may have changed if he stuck around longer but I imagine the Dogs were always in the frame.

And is this a good signing for the Dogs?
Sure, Folau will be one of the most talented backs in the game and is always going to be worth a few extra tries. The only impact I can see it having is on depth but even then I can't see it affecting them that much, at least not in the short-term.

Jealous?
Definitely, Brisbane could really do with a new back and Folau would be an ideal long term option.

If they can sign falou without offloading at least a Morris or barba, more likely both. Then **** the salary cap, just get rid of
It cos
It would prove that it's just as much a joke now as the five years that the storm pissed all over it

Yeah the Dogs will probably have to release at least 2 of Barba, Kasiano, Morris to be able to afford him, as well as a lot of the off-contract players.

What are the odds they just won't re-sign the abysmal players off contract and release the wild card - Kris Keating, to make room.

The Bulldods have just re-signed their whole forward pack and most are internationals plus they re-signed Reynolds. Tony Williams is on big coin as well.

Shouldn't be playing Rugby League as he is a proven money hunter. Would be great to see him at the Broncos though I loved him here.

Why are mercenaries looked down on more than the likes of GI and co?

At least SBW and Folau didn't knowingly cheat. But its all good, as long as you wear a maroon jersey 3 times a year everythings cool.

One more question ......how long have you been believing Phil Slothfield for ?

Fair point but this rumour has been around a lot longer than him and it's worth discussing.
