Israel Folau wants out... I'll show him the door.

We should move on GI right away IMO...

Lure him with the promise of a real premiership...

We can't...

While he is under contract to the Storm we can't even talk to him, unless the Storm give us permission, that hasn't happemed yet so if we are going to go after GI we will be in a holding patten.

one player that may be worth looking at chasing is Michael Gordon from the Panthers. i really rate him and i doubt that he will be asking that much.

Why do we need him? What position will he play?
I would rather keep our current wingers who we brought through the system.

I hope he's a massive success because he won't be offered another million dollar a year contract unless he is an absolute superstar for the AFL when the GWS salary cap concessions end. Same with Khunt.

Good luck Izzy; hopefully this will spell the end of high priced imports who cause the destruction of a strong playing roster.

On the plus side, in 3 years time when both have failed these consistent threats will disappear.

Personally, I wouldn't play a game that isn't actively followed by two of the top three cities. These guys aren't the silver bullet to change that, either.

LOLZ at the NRL who laughed off suggestions that the AFL would make an attack on the NRL's stars.

Well if Folau is signed by GWS, then guess what. We DO have a problem.

Do you really think that 2 of the AFLs new franchises, who have salary cap exceptions, signing 2 NRL players who realyl have no proven AFL skills, the AFL is that much of a threat? It's a publicity sunt, pure and simple, and with the amount of talk around these 2 signings, it's ovbiously working.

AFL is such a different game to NRL. At least Union is somewhat similar. How many NRL super players could you really see being superstars in AFL? If they aren't going to be superstars in AFL, they aren't going to be offered enough mnoney to make jumping ship worthwhile.

I think it's premature to say the NRL has a problem with AFL poaching it's superstars.

Why is it always Broncos players!!!
Hunt, Sailor, Tuqiri, Folau, is that all of them?
FFS which other club has had 4 superstars in the prime of their careers taken by rival codes.

Cause the Broncos are such an awesome club, and keep producing such quality players, and the rules of the NRL make it hard to keep these players when they become superstars (which I guess in essence they are designed to do so one club doesn't end up too strong, unless they cheat of course)

Well this is disappointing to say the least...

I'd hate to be Folau right now, being the poster boy of a budding fumbleball team deep in league territory.

Oh yeah im sure he's hating that he's just signed a contract for a million a season.

I mean come on are you actually serious. Folau would be absolutely over the moon, he has just locked up guaranteed earnings that Rugby League players could only ever dream about.

A few quick points:

- All you of saying he is fucking pathetic telling him to get fucked or whatever, get your hand off it. If you are that daft that you wouldn't take a job that nearly triples your income then you got problems. He can't play pro sport until he's 65, got to make hay while the sun shines and he just got 3 million reasons to have a crack at it. I'd go in a heart beat, and as a pro athlete I'm sure Israel would have the competitive drive to want to succeed at something new. And even if he doesn't, he's only going to be 24 by the time his AFL contract finished so he may well come back to league.

- Signing him to a 2 year deal with a 2 year option is stupid. Should have just gone for 3 years outright or something like that. A 2 year option in his favour was always going to end badly.

- I hope he still gets picked for Origin, he's still playing in the NRL right now, I don't see a problem with it.

Fark off Jester stop blowing players your the clown who sticks up for the player all the time. We know the money is huge and it is hard to turn down. Clearly he doesn't love the game and especially doesn't love the club. We are entitled to be angry IMO this is our club and it continues to farked over by greedy dick munchers who don't deserve to wear the jersey.

In 3 years time when Izzy's contract has expired and the GWS team is then bound by similar salary cap restraints as most NRL clubs and most AFL clubs they wont be able to offer him anywhere near the same money as is on offer now. So where is he going to look then ?? When he's all of 24 years old ?? Hopefully back to our team !! KHunt is in a similar position as well.
This big money is not going to last, and lets face it, they may be competent players, but it's highly doubthful they will revolutuionise the game of AFL, so lets not close the door on them completely, just keep it a little ajar 'just in case' :)

If someone came to you and said, I'll give you $700,000 a year to stop watching league and watch AFL, what would you do??

"Nah man I love the game, the game is worth $700,000 a year to me..." haha.

Izzy was still going to get 500 k a year for playing League. It is not like he was getting nothing, he is 21 ffs he has plenty of time to earn big money. I am entitled to be angry and I will vent so suck a fat one.

Frankly I don't think there are too many players that do love the club. That culture died a few years ago. A seldom few which you could probably name still have that passion to be a Bronco. The rest are just doing their job for their employer.

Definitely entitled to be angry, but is it right to direct it at Folau? Isn't it the NRL not doing enough to stop this happening? Folau is just doing what's right by him and I don't blame him. Yeah I stick up for the player but only because I want to see both sides of the argument.

Well Folau has dicked around with decision only to play Origin, He also stated a few months back that he is happy in Brisbane. It then comes out he wants to go back to Melbourne. No respect for the club IMO really shits me so yes I will be angry at Folar but I will get over it if he keeps scoring tries for the rest of the season.

I don't agree entirely that money is irresistible, but at the same time, I'm not the least bit surprised. $3 million is a lot to throw at someone, and no doubt his manager has made sure it's written in such a way that it's guaranteed income regardless of whether he succeeds or not.

Frankly Folau is taking the AFL for a ride, and good luck to him.

Totally agree, but apparently it was Folau's insistence to structure it that way because Bennett had walked and he didn't want to be locked in for 3/4 years under Henjak, or a procession of crap coaches if he didn't work out.

- I hope he still gets picked for Origin, he's still playing in the NRL right now, I don't see a problem with it.

Agree completely. He's an NRL player, he's played game 1. Let him play out the season.

He WILL come back to League. The only players that haven't come back to League are Ryan Cross (Was nearing the end of his career anyway wasn't he?) Andrew Walker and SBW. Sailor, Tuqiri, Gasnier, Rogers, Tahu....all have come back. I have no doubt that SBW will be back in 2012 too when his contract with the Dogs is up.

Hunt will be back. Folau will be back.

Andrew Walker did come back to league and then left again in disgrace.

SBW will come back.
