Israel Folau wants out... I'll show him the door.

Barnes was always a rugby union player playing League. Same as Rod Davies who left the Broncos before tasting first grade too.

Will Chambers is another who left and I doubt will return, but who knows?

I'm just going to scream if I hear one more gAyFL commentator saying how "we've lured the biggest name in rugby" when talking about Folau.

FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's 2 things wrong with that statement! 1, it's LEAGUE not RUGBY, and 2. Folau is far from the "Biggest name" in the sport.

It's official.

THE WOW Brisbane Broncos can confirm the statement made on television last night regarding Israel Folau agreeing to terms with the Greater Western Sydney AFL franchise has been supported by information from his management this morning.

While the Broncos are disappointed Israel is leaving both the club and the code, the Broncos wished him well.

"It is sad to see Israel make this move but we understand the unprecedented inducement that was offered," said Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen.

"We wish him all the best for the future after this season. And now this matter is resolved the Broncos and Israel can move on and concentrate on the task at hand - that of making the finals of the 2010 NRL competition."

WHilst watching an AFL show on channel 9 last night, the AFL guys were very smug and loving the fact they had signed Folau. League will be fine, the AFL blokes have NFI, they thought they signed the greatest league player of all time haha.

Good luck with him. $1 million a year for 3 years is a hell lot of money, so I can't say I blame him. He needs to do a hell lot of training to learn how to play AFL to prove that he is worth the money.

I'm disappointed but not devastated TBH.

I've had a horrible thought....What if Bruno in his infinite wisdom see's Brent Tate as the Folau replacement?

Gaz or Inglis...hmmm, do we want a toey human to spurt sauce, or an angry human to protect our women from self harm....

Actually its more like $1.4 million per season, he signed a 3 year $4.2 million dollar contract.

I love Izzy as a player, but for 4.2 million can you blame him!!!!!!!

I have no problem with Izzy playing out the rest of the Origin campaign - he is still a contracted Rugby League player until 31 October 2010 - he is therefore entitled to play in any Rugby League team for which he is eligible until the such time as that contract is up.

I am disappointed to see him go, but not devastated and wish him all the best. Agree with Rock - I think he'll be back in League as I truly believe he will miss League.

I also think that once again the joke is on AFL. They are paying big big bucks to K and now Issy, that I don't believe will provide them with good value for money. Sure they will get some initial publicity out of it but in terms of development of their sport and long term gains I really believe that this is the wrong way to go about it.

I am also I little bit smug about RL - the fact that pretty much every other code wants to buy our players must mean we are doing something very very right. Just a pity we aren't currently able to do more to keep them.

NRL - feeder competition to the world.

Just waiting for the socceroos to pinch Denan Kemp :P

In all seriousness though, Michael Voss has it 100% right. He was saying that he thought the money being ploughed into AFL development was going to Auskick programs and junior clubs...not to buy untested players from other codes to be the highest paid in the sport.

He thinks it sends the wrong message to the kids coming through, and it absolutely does.
