In all seriousness though, Michael Voss has it 100% right. He was saying that he thought the money being ploughed into AFL development was going to Auskick programs and junior clubs...not to buy untested players from other codes to be the highest paid in the sport.

He thinks it sends the wrong message to the kids coming through, and it absolutely does.

Yep, I also agree. He was specifically talking about money he and other big name players of his era were asked to sacrifice for said development. And he is not the only big name AFL player/coach to be very much against these 2 signings - I don't think K and Issy are going to be very welcomed overall.

I have a sneaking suspicion this buying of big name league players who have great athletic ability will blow up in the face of the AFL. Hunt and Folau will come back to league really cashed up after experiencing the AFL. For all we know right now, they might be flat out experiencing the AFL and get paid huge coin to play VFL?

Copley is the only younger bloke in the Broncos squad that i can see atm having any chance of making the 17 next year. Any others beside's him?

This I think is the reality. I read in the articles how Folau (and Hunt)'s package is majority promotional payment, with their playing payment "consistent with their level of playing experience"...which would indicate to me if they were on $1 million a year, that less than $100K of that is based on playing.

If they totally **** up and never play a game they'll still be entitled to around $900K per year...

The AFL is basically paying them for 3 years to do nothing if they aren't up to it, come back to League, still young, still fit, in fact probably fresh and injury free having not taken the beating they would cop in league, and be superstars.

Again, I don't blame them for it (I don't like it though). But ultimately the joke is on the AFL.

Of course...they could turn out to be great players.............. but even then the thought that they would be worth twice what a Cameron Ling or Luke Power is worth is laughable.

Haha no need to take me too literal, what I was trying to say is.. and let's just assume he was on 500k (which IMO I think he'd be more on 350k). To double your salary for 3 years by making a move to Sydney, I would find it hard pressed to find someone who wouldn't do it. I can understand if you had a wife, kids etc and moving them would not justify the extra. But Folau is 21, why would you get angry at him?

Especially if someone came and asked you to move jobs for double your salary, different skillset but still takes advantage of your basic skills. Sold!

You must be kidding me right. its very easy to say that on an internet forum but if you were actually ever in a position to forfeit $600k+ in earnings in one year, im sure there would be no thinking involved whatsoever. And if you did choose to do so, you would be doing a disservice to yourself and your family.

Most of these blokes who play Rugby League come from working class familys who do not have lots of money. So if they are presented with an opportunity to set up their future financially, it will be taken.

People need to start getting real and understand that no person in their right mind is going to take paycuts of $500k+ to stay playing rugby league. This is real life and these blokes are not hammering their bodies for a beer and a pie at the pub after the game.

The only time I would disagree would be if you had a family and were established in your local community. Sometimes uprooting your entire family and lifestyle is not worth that kind of money.

I certainly wouldn't relocate my family to Sydney to double my income, even at that scale. However, if there was no longer a job in my local community for that income, or I'd have to take a pay cut, then different story. I would definitely consider a move.

Folau being young, no ties, plus having grown up in the west of sydney anyway, it's really a no brainer for him.

When Hodges gets fit drop Folau to Q Cup and and leave Glen at centre. I want the Broncos to make it as hard as possible for Folau for the next couple of months. Why shouldnt we, Folau has fuked around for weeks saying he will stay now he is leaving. I hope the fuckhead does his knee and at the same time dislocates his ankle, elbow and neck whilst snapping all the tendons in his right and left leg.

Folau doesnt deserve to wear a Broncos jersey after we offloaded some of the best players in the comp to pay for him. What a total **** wit.
