The Hunt move was more personal as well.
I wasn't among the crowd who insulted him, but I can understand why they were so vocal for Hunt as opposed to Izzy.
We'd seen Hunt develop from such a young age and he was set to become our next captain.
Izzy we signed for big bucks, he played well then he left for bigger money. It's hard to get as passionate.

Just a quick thought, If the AFL Signs Inglis as they have stated, should we start getting worried????

LOL AFL players would struggle to make the change IMO. Also the NRL will only act if a Hayne or Morris went to AFL.

I think it comes down to the fact Broncos bought Folau, but the Broncos "raised" Hunt. Folau isn't really a true Bronco in the traditional sense of how the Broncos (maybe used to) operate, whereas Hunt was.
I actually think a lot more fans were hurt by Hunt leaving, but they showed that being angry at him.

Just my opinion but I reckon you're a bit harsh if you blame Folau for taking a $1m/year approx deal for 3 years over his a league contract which would most likely have been the 400k/year at best...SURELY you can't blame him.
Like many have said - you've GOT to bridge the gap... if he's weighing up 700k to 900k it is a different story. (I 100% agree with this - I think we're a bit far off equaling offers but we should be bridging the gap and we should have been working towards this years ago... shame on the NRL for this)

While Hunt implicitly said he was leaving the club by rejecting our offer, he never made it clear until after Origin 3...and then went back on his words about getting out of the fishbowl with a class KRudd-style backflip.

They are trying to get more islander kids playing AFL by giving them players to look up to. This is about the next 10 - 15 years and where the players are going to come from, they have laid down a direct challenge to rugby league by putting a team into the Western suburbs and they will spend what it takes to make it work.
Buying a couple of AFL stars who couldn't possibly play league would be a waste of money, they are better off increasing Origin payments to bridge the gap between the codes.
