Jack Bird Discussion

Is Uncle Wayne thinking the days of 3 props in the middle is numbered ?
Possibility of less interchanges .
Work horse lock with ball skills ? A la Corey Parker ?

More a Terry Matterson type....

Won't happen so long as clubs rort the HIA with impunity. We need to keep reducing the interchanges to combat it or just hit clubs with huge fines or a points deduction if a trend emerges.

Sharks should take note of the statement the Tigers CEO made of Woods leaving.

“Personally, I’d like to take this chance to thank Aaron for the way he has led this club,” Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said. “He has led from the front every time he has taken to the field and has been a great player for this club for a long time now.

“It was obviously a tough decision for Aaron and he has made the decision in the best interest of his family and himself and as a club we completely respect that and wish him all the best in the future.

“I’m sure that Aaron will continue to put everything into his performances for Wests Tigers for the remainder of 2017 and we look forward to giving him the respectful farewell he deserves.”

This actually really shits me off. It is against the rules and you can guarantee if we did it the media would lose their shit, but because they did it to us the media just think it's hilarious.

It's only against the rules for the club making the signing. What the sharks did was just petty, throw the toys from the cot type of thing. The sole purpose was to not give us the satisfaction of making the announcement ourselves.

Below are the key points from the NRL's release about new contracts and the 10 day cooling off period.

• A player may sign an extension of his contract with his existing club at any time
• A player may sign with a new club only during the final year of his contract
• A 10 business day cooling off period will apply to all contracts
• A club signing a player is prohibited from making an announcement until the cooling off period has expired

Totally agree, so apart from being babies about the situation they did nothing wrong? Legally they can announce a player is leaving their club without breaking the rules.

PS. So looking forward to seeing JB in a Broncos' jersey. He's an unmistakable talent just waiting for the right coach.

Edit: No different to the Tigers' situation where Woods and Tedesco were given deadlines, failed to meet them thus confirming they were leaving. They certainly handled the situation better than Cronulla as SF already pointed out.

From Fox Sports

BIRD SIGNED AND SEALED

Just when will Brisbane formally announce the signing of Jack Bird?

Cronulla announced the Bird to Broncos deal a few weeks back but the reality is the contract was only lodged with the NRL on Friday.

Once the cooling off period has expired, the Broncos can finally formally announce the signing.

The Sharks don't have any class. Never had never will. Always just acting like spoilt kids
Ha ha ha.....50 years in the comp, always acting like kids

Jealous much ?

Gallen has infected that club, just like he has infected NSW. No Class NO Sportsmanship

So how much is Bird's contract worth exactly? Reports range fro $750k to $1.2m a year

Next week we will have signed Jack Bird for 2 million a season.

By the end of the year it'll be 15 million a season.

I respect Sharks fans, but the board, coach, and pretty much everyone controlling the organisation are bell ends.
