Jack Bird Discussion

If he wants to really play 5/8th then he joined the wrong club as we signed Milf up for That position.

I'm beginning to wonder if he even knows where he wants to play. He keeps making comments about how he doesn't want to play center, but he has now said he wants to be lock and five eighth.

It's definitely not uncommon honestly, I've changed my opinion on players like Milford after watching a lot of NBA. It's a world wide problem, there's countless players in the NBA who are simply out of shape and would be considerably better if they put in the effort to change their body.

The absolute prime example, for anyone who doesn't follow the NBA, is Julius Randle. Last season he was out of shape, and played comfortably the worst basketball of his career, during the off-season a switch flicked and he decided to get in prime shape. He just had easily his best ever season and was one of the most dominant forwards in the league after Christmas.

I wish a lot more players would dedicate themselves like that, imagine Milford if he had the body of someone like Mansour, he'd be unstoppable.
TBF Milford looks like he is in better shape now than he was last year

Could someone post the article on jack bird thats on courier mail

Despite what he says, his best position is centre. He may like to get his hands on the ball more at 5/8 but he is a runner of the ball more than a ball player. So he's more suited to centre. Just my opinion.

Sounds like a mess at the broncos. No one knows what the hell is going on and Wayne seems just as lost. Priorities has to be, We need a halfback and players need to get their chubby arse's in shape.

He wont ever perform at center because he doesn't want to play there. I still think his game is perfect for lock

Better shape =/= Optimal shape

Going from very overweight to moderately overweight probably won't affect performance much, if at all. If he dropped 6-7 kg's and cut his BF% in half, he'd be unstoppable.

Agreed.
I'm trying to find a photo of Milf from that try he scored against Storm, he looked a lot better

I dunno why clubs don't have maximum weight/body fat numbers given to every player. Griffin used to do the opposite, so why can't this be done? You'd think if a player is paid hundreds of thousands of dollars, they should be expected to be in excellent physical condition.

now obviously I’m not going to argue that fitter is better. But I also think that a guy who has a change of heart and decides to train hard and get shredded is probably also taking all aspects of his career far more seriously. So it may be hard to say how much of his improvement is actually a result of his new body and not a result of his new found dedication.

Bird definitely could lose a bit of flab but if he is training his ass off and taking his job seriously, I don’t think it’s as big of a deal as some may think.

This worries me a little. I believe he has come out a couple of times since lining up for us and said that he has been under performing, and isn't happy with his form. Yes he has just come off surgery, but he really should be starting to find his feet now.
I like the honesty, however is it all talk?
Lets hope he genuinely means it, and rips in. I thought he was solid against the Warriors, however last week he was no where to be seen.
Hasn't there also been whispers of him potentially playing 5/8th for NSW? QLD will have a field day if that's the case (on current form) and the match up was saw against Munster last week.
I hope he is able to flick a switch and becomes the player we all want him to be, but I genuinely think that Wayne only has him as a center for the first few yrs with us. If that's the case it almost seems like he wont want to be playing...
If nothing picks up for him this year, I could see him returning to Sydney..

He looks unhappy to me. Not sure if that is beacuse he's not happy with how he's playing but every interview he does he comes across as 'down' mood-wise.

I thought we started going backwards the moment Kodi hit the field, and Milf went back to 5/8.

I actually completely forgot about that when I posted the above.

hmm I only mentioned it because I agree we went backwards with Kodi/Milf but I thought the attack picked up with Moose there taking more control and upping the pace. I can't remember if Kodi came on as a reaction to Macca going off.
