The Roosters played around $650,000 under the salary cap this year.
They are now set to release Jayden Nikorima a year early from his $350,000-a-season contract to free up $1 million to pursue Cronk without having to offload any other players, including Mitchell Pearce and Jake Friend.
It is understood Nikorima, a 2016 Junior Kangaroo, will head back to the Brisbane Broncos.

They also just can’t ‘release’ players from contracts. They work both ways. JNick has every right in the world to demand the Roosters pay his salary this coming season, unless any such release is mutual which would tend to indicate he has a club willing to take him on...

That might be us, but there is no way we have $350k to spend on a player like him and market value is still an issue is it not?
