RUMOUR Jayden Nikorima to the Broncos

The Roosters didn't re-sign Guerra and Evans so that frees up $2 million right there, Tupou re-signed but is actually paying the Roosters to play him. Tedesco signed for $100k only to play under whoever the Roosters coach is (doesn't really matter) so yeah, they have about $4.5 million left to sign a player or 89. Besides, with a flexible salary cap, Cronk should feel right at home.

I think this is correct, as there are rumours flying Angus Crighton has refused an enormous contract with Rabbits, with the Roosters believed to have offered him a larger one...

I read something somewhere about them pre-paying some of their players in 2017 for their 2018 contracts. Given they were apparently under......therefore freeing up cash for this year

Certainly helps justify it because they are definitely not under the cap and especially by that much.

Would just be a front loaded contract.

Yeah but it wouldn't have been when they signed it.. Are they allowed to amend the terms of a contract after its been submitted to the NRL? I doubt it.

You are all forgetting Schubert's back ended deal worth around $5 mill.

Do we have room in our 30 man squad for J Nik? Given we’ve just signed one young half and hopefully add lodge to the squad it must be getting close to complete.

My best guess would be that he takes scarlet’s place if we do sign him.

It doesn't matter if it's legal or not. The Roosters admitted that they paid Maloney while he was still at the Warriors so it would ease the burden on their cap when he finally did arrive. Nothing ever got done about it, the issue just sort of disappeared and the journos never mentioned it again. Rules don't apply to them.

could you just imagine the reaction from the media (lead by Rothfield and Kent) and the opposition fans if we tried to pull that stunt

They'd be torn between outrage and euphoria over how many clicks they'll be receiving.

To do it legally you'd just have to pay some of your current squad in advance so you have more room on the cap when new players arrive.
