Jharal Yow Yeh injury update thread

After I saw the long shot which showed him running (limping) and his feet my heart sank, IMO he will never play wing again in NRL. He even gave it away a bit with his interview when he said nothing was impossible when referring to his positional change to backrow.
What long shot? Is there a video we can see?

I'm not so concerned with the footage. Sure, noticeable limp and undoubtedly the injured leg is well and truly wasted away. I think he can get back to running at a good clip, but I would say centre or back row is in his future now sadly. I just don't think you'd risk him competing for the high ball on a regular basis.

Kimlo, the 'reply before reading thread' member strikes again!

There's two links on the previous page bro, both have the same video. Here's one of them - http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/nrl/jharal-yow-yeh-back-at-last/story-e6frep76-1226630970544

He's got a pretty noticeable limp.
Oh, I thought there was some new footage, I don't take much from that as that was his first game back and he still needs to get his leg strength back.

I think we'll really know how much of a recovery he's made in about 2-3 months time.

Saw it on the news or maybe NRL 360, he was coming back on the field and you could see his limp and the angle of his foot. It did not look good and certainly no way he will play wing anywhere close to what he was. There is no way he will have the same balance.

Cant wait to see JYY make his return for the Bronx, amazing player with an amazing career ahead of him. Maybe not on the wing like he used to, but imagine him in the backrow now he has bulked up, he will be solid and will still have the speed to get through the tired forward packs!

Totally agree stephy. With his bulk now and the footwork and speed few backrowers could hope for he would be a handful. I don't care where he plays I just want to see him
Back at some point. I swear it will be impossible to keep me away from
His first game back

Unfortunately I live in Townsville so I will most likely miss his return game but ill be cheering just as loud from my lounge room for him and the mighty Bronx haha!

It's JYY's first game at top level that worries me most, that he will re-injure himself.

NRL is a different ball game to lower grades

Back row? Like we will drop Parker, Glenn or Gillett ?

Back row like leading with his "bad" leg and getting bent back and sideways by the Burgess brothers?

Back row as in hiding out on the edges and letting the real forwards do the important work.

It's amazing how things can change. A couple of weeks ago, loads of people were saying that he'll soon be calling it quits. Now, after 30 minutes for Norths in the FOGS Cup, everyone's talking about what to do when he comes back.

Just goes to show how much people love Jharal and want to see him back on the park.

While he's still a VERY long way away from playing in the NRL again, when he does, I can guarantee that it will be at Suncorp.

JYY: Hey Coach, I'm finally ready to play!
Griffindor: Uh, sorry, can't have you playing yet. We don't play at Suncorp for 3 more weeks.

I think Jharal will want to come back onto the Suncorp pitch with 50 000 cheering for him, not at somewhere like Penrith Park with about 10 000. I just have a gut feeling about this. Trust me.
