Josh Hoffman at Fullback

I never said he was, seriously can you read?

My point was that we don't know what joe bond is because he hasn't had a go at first grade. All we know is he is the best fullback in the q cup. I'm not even suggesting that bond would be good or should even be given a go, my point is the two I mentioned, especially DCE had no wraps on him before manly gave him a chance.

So now you're making up nonsense.

Geeze there are some sensitive souls on here.

I've nothing against Bond, he's been brilliant in the QCup. However, I don't want the guy to play firsts because, and let's be realistic here, it would mean we're shit out of luck on the injury and/or form front.

Here's the list of players in front of Joe Bond:

Hoffman
Norman
Kahu
Maranta
Hodges
m1c

It seems as though the club is, quite wisely, proactively trying to avoid a situation we had this year when forced to play 3 backrowers out wide. He's not the BHQ project player: the club simply cherry picked the best outside back from QCup and offered a contract so he could afford to train full time with us over the off-season.

Any suggestion he is the saviour or will be anywhere near our round 1 team is just delusion.

Is the guy even in our top 25?

Whoever was whinging about DCE: IIRC he came through Manly's 20's before STAYING IN THEIR SYSTEM playing for their QCup affiliate.

Your examples weren't apt. Both DCE & Barba figured heavily in their respective sides long term plans. It'd be like using Greg Inglis or Cooper Cronk as examples when they were merely too young to be consistent first graders.

That isn't to say your point isn't fair. Players like Steve Matai, Adam Mogg and more recently Everingham would prove your point.

I'm not as dismissive as m1c is when it comes to Bond but I do believe some fans are getting a bit carried away wanting him straight into the starting side. I don't believe they want them there based on their own merit but rather the idea of him becoming a Barba type player.

I have a similar opinion of Kahu. It isn't so much he's a good player but rather he's an alternative.

Not quite, I want them there based on the fact the Hoffman offers absolutely no ball playing skills at all. I have no idea how they'll turn out though, I just want the best of what's available.

That would be Norman then..

I'd be happy for Norman to get a shot too, but he'd have to start training as a fullback right........now. Just so he can pick up on as many subtleties as possible before the season starts, work on his positioning and what not... but I don't really see that happening.
