JT No Try

Thurston is a bad sport and always has been. I am sick of his tantrums being passed off as 'competiveness'. It's not, it's poor sportsmanship and if a player that isn't a golden child like Thurston did it they would be blasted for it in the media.

Yeah my opinion of him has changed a bit over the last 12 months as well. (Probably purely because we lost to them in the Grand Final), but I certainly don't like him as much as I used to, and his whining does get a little on my nerve now.

Who cares? There was a blatant forward pass in the lead up to that try anyway.

No mention of the very obvious forward pass in that set that got missed either, they should have never been in that position in the first place if the referee's were doing their job. I like Thurston when he plays the game, but I find his behavior towards refs in general far worse then a random tap on the shoulder from a player.

Not our fault he knocked on.

If Eden touches the ball before Thurston while in touch, it's a cowboys scrum 10 meters out.

I still can't tell who got it first but in any case it looks like JT lost control for a second before getting over the line. But regardless of all that, it's only round four. With the amount of whinging they're doing you would have thought they'd just been knocked out of finals contention. They just won a premiership and they're acting like sooks.

I saw their interview last night, which led to my post in the post-game thread. It's absolutely disgraceful, and Green is as bad, if not worse as JT.
I said it before... in my opinion, JT definitely knocks the ball on, which makes any other point moot. Of course, Feldt's action is a knock on anywhere else on the field too, and the only doubt is who touches the ball first out of Eden or JT, which could have given the Cows a scrum feed.

Thurston lost the ball anyway so it wouldn't have been given anyway. Thurston and Green have been going of feral about it but like last year and those years before if they were good enough they would've won, they weren't good enough.

Pretty funny that Thurston and co don't give a **** when the refs stuff up in their favour. We were robbed of a try in the first half but to them that never happened.

Just watching Fox and Lara Pitt said Archer told her he backed every bunker call last night ..... except the Gillett one - said it should have been a try.

One of the few times I like the fact that we don't have BOTD or refs call anymore..

Because Thurston's no try definitely would have been BOTD..

Being a bit thin skinned in relation to Thurston. Parker was over there having his say every chance too and twice ran 20 plus metres to make sure while the decision was pending his opinion was heard.

Benny had a complaint in the press conference too about professional fouls and the game being 3 years behind on tactics.

I think you kinda refuted your own defence of JT there. The calls for someone getting binned were 100% justified (ie the 4 penalty goals. All of which came after a line break) which is why Parker was talking to the ref a bit (even if that's not the instance you were referring to)

Thurston has a history of blow ups and refs-faulting and while it's been justified in certain cases such as the '13 & '14 finals series, it's become a decent part of his 'playing personality'. His belief in his or his team's abilities lead him to think they are never wrong or make errors, hence the salty press conferences when they lose like they did with a call going (rightly) against them. I know he hates to lose but he needs to reign it in a bit.

Green cried like a little kid who spilt his milk

Yeah but Eden didn't touch the ball on the full, it had bounced in the field of play before he touched it. Surely this means it's out off Eden?

if a ball is kicked and pulls up just short of the dead ball line and the defending fullback/winger steps over the dead ball line, turns around while still dead, and stretches out across the ground to touch the ball does that make it a drop out or 20 tap? Could players put their foot on the dead ball linr when defending there in goal instead of trying to get back into the field of play?

these aren't rhetorical questions, I actually don't know. My opinion on the decision is that I am happy to accept it but wouldn't have blown up if the call went against us. I'm just glad I wasn't in the bunker making the call.
After doing a bit of research, looking through the 2013 rulebook:

"Where the ball which is stationary in the field of play or thein-goal area comes in contact with a player in touch, touchin-goal or over the dead ball line, the ball is deemed to havebeen made dead by that player.

Should a kick be made dead by a defending playerstraddling the dead ball line or touch in-goal line, play will restartwith a goal line drop-out."

The wording is still far too vague but the blue passage clearly indicates the Peachey rule has been overturned. Other than for kickoffs there are no more in goal area hacks.

For general 'in-touch' though (the green passage) the phrasing is way more confusing but, devoid of other context, I would assume that being "made dead by that player" indicates that the scrumfeed goes against said player. I'm assuming the use of the word 'stationary' is simply a reference to the previous rule since overturned as there are no differentiating passages for a ball in motion.

You mean our captain spoke to the ref? is that not allowed in the ISC or someaning? You're not a Broncos fan are you?

Also i love the fact that after ten minutes of whinging about the decisions, Paul Green then said we shouldn't be talking about the decisions because it takes away from the contest.

This. He just couldn't bring himself to say anything good about the Broncos effort. The best he could do was, "whinge, whinge, credit to the Broncos but whinge, whinge".
