NEWS Kahu set to return to Broncos after short stint at Cowboys

Weren’t souffs wanting shibba earlier on in the year? Now might be the right time to release him. I’d probably rather Kahu then Shibba. Both aren’t great option tho imo. As long as Kahu doesn’t get kicking conversions and kick offs again. He was average.

I don’t know about but I’m looking more forward to hearing about how Darius Boyd is testing the best he ever has, how Andrew McCullough is training the house down and how Milford is kicking balls sweeter than Lockyer in his prime... all before we take the field where we realise actions on the field trump the talk before hand and we gift the Cowboys a 20 point early Xmas present to celebrate their opening of their new stadium whilst we go through another 12 fucking months of begging Boyd and Macca to be dropped whilst we listen to the weekly PR spin

I’m not going to fucking cop that next season and neither will most fans

Oh neither will I my friend, trust me. I'm iron clad on what I said numerous times before, if Boyd and/or McC are in this footy side again after dogging it like they did last season, I am not watching a single game until they are gone.

I'll even watch the other games of the round, just not the Broncos. That'll stick the boot in.

This Kahu clusterfuck is surely the last straw. These "player option" deals have been nothing but poison for this club, whoever was ultimately responsible for them should be a dead man walking.

It wouldn't surprise me if it came out that Kahu did in fact have other offers on the table, but canned them all knowing he is no longer first grade material, at the end of his career, and needed one last payday.

My other thought is that, like happens with just about every other player, even if granted a release the club is responsible for any shortfall between their signed value and what another club is willing to pay. So maybe if Kahu was being offered minimum wage elsewhere (meaning we'd still have to chip in close to $300k), the Broncos thought that it would cost us no less to have Kahu here taking up a Top 30 spot and available if we have another injury crisis in the backs.

That's a fair point, while I'm still livid we would "release" a player but not really if we are covering the difference anyway and there isn't really a player to take that spot then we may as well take him back for injury cover.

Still seems pointless. We needed him this year for injury cover. Now we have Arthars and half a dozen other young guys ready to have a crack.

The silver lining is the club has exhausted all the possible excuses this season so the same ones won’t cut it next season.

The club know fans don’t give a **** if Boyd in preseason is testing the best he has in his entire career, because we all saw how that translated onto the field so how fit Darius is means absolutely nothing if he doesn’t have the all round game to go with it anymore.

The club plus every man and his dog knows we need a fucking half. The club have even stated they will go to market. So if they don’t deliver then that’s yet another broken bullshit promise. All this Dearden hype also needs to be toned down because it’s not like he was Andrew Johns on debut. He was solid, serviceable and showed some maturity beyond his years but he is still only 18 with a handful of first grade games and doesn’t exactly scream ‘saviour’ not to mention we actually need depth in the halves.

The club would have been pulling themselves silly when Segeyaro didn’t want to accept a minimum wage contract before being flagged for an illegal substance because now they can trot out Macca in the 17 every week and try and justify it to the fans. We won’t cop that either because even the media pundits know Turpin is our best and most promising option at 9 and Macca is just a wasted bench spot.

My greatest fear is Boyd and Macca both being in the 17 in Round 1 and when the ensuing and obvious hiding at the hands of the cowboys follows, having to hear Seibold trot out that dreadful ‘Boyd isn’t playing as bad as everyone is saying’ line ad nauseum

Kahu has played three positions in his 15 games - centre, fullback and five-eighth - and hopes his utility value might bring some appeal to club recruiters.

He was set to be the Broncos No.6 in 2014 but tore his ACL in the trial.

Maybe the Dally M winning coach and Lockyer want him at 5/8. A serviceable cheap pivot to partner Milford at 7 (who is on his last chance to impress).
Doesn't make sense for him to be in queue with Perese/Farnworth/Coates/Arthars/Shibasaki/Kenner and then Staggs/Isaako/Oates/Bird.

More importantly this renews the hope that Boyd's last ever game was at Bankwest or/and that Bird is going in the next week or so!
Oh ffs... We couldn't be getting further away from where we want to be with this

So that's why we didn't achieve in the finals series... We never trained for the scenario of being 30 nil down after 20 mins
I would say it had more to due with us not training for getting on the team bus heading to the stadium for a finals game scenario. Clearly the boys and coaching staff didn't anticipate it.

I think you nailed it there. It was less about anyone's lack of ability or otherwise and more about mindset. I've seen some teams with glaring deficenies go a fair way into the finals (hell, cantabury played a front rower at half and we played a frontrower at hooker). The best will find you out but it shouldn't mean you get flogged. A missed tackle by big man found out by an agile little man happens. When it happens 3 times in a row though it means you're not working as a team, and no-one is asking why it just happened.
We seem to accept it like its "just what happens", when it shouldn't. Last year it led to Bennet's exit, this year an overseas study trip.

Kahu has just posted a video explaining the situation and stated he will be back at the broncos in 2020.
All while in a sling.

Deadset, we are a mess.

That is how I see it too, mentally I was never confident going into a match this season because this side doesn't just lack the talent in some key positions, it lacks the mental toughness and in a lot of ways that is even worse. The only area of the side I'm confident of is the forwards but that alone isn't enough.

Comparing it to the 1999 season where though the Broncos were convincingly beaten by the Sharks in the finals(they still put up a decent fight) they weren't outclassed mentally, rather they were physicially spent by then after having to win virtually every game from round 11 onwards to make the finals because they were dead last in round 10. Funnily enough I think the events of 1999 set us up strongly for our premiership in 2000. But I don't see that happening to this side lol.
