Corey Paix.
tyson gamble. Both should have been 14 ahead of him, he sucks.

Corey Paix played much of the season with Billy, until he got injured and then had shit form when he returned ... if anything Turpin kept Paix out of the side.

and as much as i didn't want Turpin anywhere near the side, it was better for both Paix and us that he go and get his form back in a less pressured comp.

Gamble on the other hand isn't a 14. he starts in the halves or doesn't play. it's as simple as that. it may have worked against the Titans (who sucked hard this year), but it is another story entirely trying to play a hooker and a half off the bench against the likes of the Storm and the Roosters

Always the same shit: we didn't have anyone else better. Instead of: why didn't we sign anyone else better? Who put us in that position? Whose plan was that, and were they happy with how we got snookered?

Yep, here it comes. Apparently Kevvie needs to "overhaul his body language:"

Paul Crawley:

"Kevvie's best hope of surviving appears to be the fact there are no stand out candidates to take over. We saw with the disaster of Anthony Seibold’s tenure that the pressure of coaching the Broncos is not for the faint hearted, and it would be madness to throw another rookie in. So if there is to be change it has to be someone with runs on the board, otherwise the Broncos have to stick with Walters. But make no mistake, he has to make some change, and it should start with a body language overhaul. Otherwise the players will be getting the same sorry messages next year when the pressure is at its worst, and that’s when every team needs their coach to be at his best."
He cites this still as evidence:

But you just named two players that also "suck". Inserting a fringe first grader (aka plodder) with another doesn't solve anything. Billy probably has been our best player this past month (certainly was last night).

But the dummy half position continues to be a big problem along with a plethora of other issues. The inclusion of Paix and Gamble these past six weeks would have made little difference and probably none at all. In fact, they may have been worse.

Paix is easily the best hooker at the club. He’s not great but he’s better

name that better hooker we have that Billy was keeping out of the team
OMG. This whole conversation has been complete trash for weeks. As I understand it, @McHunt’s point is that there where options either not considered or opportunities missed because Kevin had predetermined he was signing his son. The question of who would you sign that is better is not the point. It is who would have you signed two years ago, or planned to had starting the 2023 season. And McHunts understandable conclusion is that we are now here and it looks like the starting hooker, or even possibly starting 6 is still BILLY WALTERS! Give McHunt his point and let’s move on to what now?

Wouldn’t worry, don’t think the phins are making much of a shake of the comp next year. Would be so much easier to commit if Milford wasn’t playing there tbh. Just want to see our club get back to a much more professional standard. Still a few cobwebs in the place.
Well fingers crossed, it would be a real shame to lose a super fan like yourself…

A lot of people got their backs up earlier in the year when anyone dared suggest favouritism was at play with billy Walters. a lot of people simply unable to admit they were wrong, no matter how clear it has become.

That's debatable but I'm not going to argue the merits of a couple plodders. Paix will never hold down a regular first grade gig. If he does, it'll be with a bottom feeding club.

I assume the plan was to just plug the hole at hooker with Turpin, Paix & Walters this season while Mozer develops in QCUP ready for next season.

Unfortunately that's backfired, Mozer only got a couple of brief appearances in Cup before his body started breaking down. Just had a full shoulder reconstruction last week and will need at least another 12 months of Cup experience before he can be considered for first grade.

Next option has to be a short-term deal for an experienced hooker, possibly even one over in England.

and as i said ... Ben Ikin deserves his share of the blame for us not having a better hooker than Billy. it's his job to ensure we do.

then If Kev plays Billy ahead of that better hooker, you would have a legit reason to get your panties in a twist
