Lachlan Maranta

I'd prefer if he became a much improved version of himself... Or even better, he could offer himself as spare parts for Yow Yeh and Hodgo! :thumbup1:

Yes i agree that he has been ordinary but doesnt give anyone the right to bag him

Last I checked we live in a free country, I have the right to an opinion as do you. I'm not going to not voice said opinion because you are getting sand in ya vagina over our comments about your "mate". His performance despite his effort bordered on Greek tragedy.

Its fun because I think it's fun

I'm sorry mate. Amway I have decided to forget about what happens and start fresh. Sorry to everyone for getting on your nerves

I loved that article from Maranta about waiting for him to be in open space, he could barely keep up with Hodges.

He reminds me of myself, I think I'm fast but truth be told I run at sloth speed.

A few people now have said he's a solid defender - where's this coming from?

I won't dispute that he's decent under the high ball, but his defence is pretty bloody terrible in my book.

You have to laugh, don't you. Comes out and claims he is quicker than Nashy when he's making love, gets the ultimate chance to prove it, and looks like he's running in wet cement. Classic.

Anyone who can get up the field in that time is life hacking.

Everything I see of Maranta reminds me of a student sitting the HSC

Wow, 7 pages of Maranta debate lol

The guy is just not good enough for first grade, imo he is not even good enough for first grade depth. If there are 32 wingers running around on a weekend of NRL he would be the 30th to 32nd best option.

He's made more of his opportunities than Whitchurch did.

he'll still get more chances. If Tautai, Talanoa and Bani can manage 200+ NRL games between them, then i'm sure Maranta will still be knocking around the NRL in the future.

i just hope it is because he has improved his game and not because we suffer injuries to our first 5 wing options.

Okay, get ready for a shock, I am going to use the `P' word. I am somewhat disappointed for, and sad about Maranta, because I actually think he has the potential to be a talented and useful footballer. He has done some good things in the games he has had and he seems to have some skill that is largely being unexploited. He has good size and if he lost some weight and did some dedicated speed training over the summer, I think he would actually have some pace as well.

The more significant issues seem to be with his confidence and his thinking. Some disconnect seems to have occurred in his head when an opportunity opens up and invariably he freezes or takes the wrong option.

It is a a song I have sung before, but there seems to be a continuing problem with this club with working on player weaknesses and developing them into good footballers. It was happening with Henjak and has continued with Griffin. For some reason either the coaches do not try and fix individual problems that players have, they do so ineffectually, or the players are too dense to actually take on board and put into operation what they are taught. Without being inside and observing, I cannot tell you which one it is.

But there are a number of players who have (had) fundamental flaws that should have been capable of being fixed with some effort and time. Why is this not happening?
