Langer gone. Who is attacking coach next season?

I have been one of hoffmans biggest supporters... I am seriously disgusted reading these comments from him. Really disappointing

At least he's man enough to admit it. I like that.

But he has to prove he's learnt from it and not be in that situation again

That's true. I guess I give him props for owning up to it. Better bring his a game next season after making statements like that

Yep, that's the positive way of looking at it.

Still, I feel a bit embarrassed for defending him. Apart of the reason I did was because I honestly thought he was struggling with injuries and just had too much pride to take a week off. To hear it was partly attitude is disappointing.

Club is promising improvement for 2013, I hope they do all they can to show it.

Yep, and of course not putting in is inexcusable. But the main thing I appreciate is he's owned up, and not kept lying and saying he gave it everything he had. Too many players say that and have it said by their coaches that they probably end up believing it.

Club has to improve in 2013. From going from top 2 at the half way mark to 8th and out is just not good enough. The club has acknowledged that, and now it seems the players are too. To me that's a good sign.

I'm in the same boat. A little shocked at his comments TBH... I can't ever excuse not giving your all.

Well that makes me even more annoyed at dropping Maranta who was playing his heart out and was easily in better form.

Anyhow, what's done is done. If he gives it his all from this point onward and can establish himself as one of the game's better fullbacks then I will happily get on board his support bandwagon.

Anyone who has played sport should know how these things happen. At the time you think you are putting in everything you have and you think you are doing everything you need to be the best you can be. However, once the season is over and you step back from the day to day grind that a season can become and reflect and think you could have done more. For me, it is a good sign that Hoffman is intelligent and not too egotistical to say he could have done more. It's all positive for me and it means that he will be going into the offseason training with a clear focus and will be primed. Don't bag these comments, take them as a positive. Hopefully it will rub off onto the other players too.

I like this thought process

Yep, I agree. Like I said, it's refreshing to see honest self reflection/self assessment from a player.

Except they even put Norman at fullback for a while ahead of him. It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to understand you are playing poorly.

being out of form and playing poorly is different to not putting in and giving it your all.

He may not have given it all, but his form wasn't just because of that. I do believe all the head knocks and injuries may have played a role.
And although he's as safe and courageous as they come in the custodian role, I still have doubts about his ball playing and attacking instinct. We'll see...

But I do like the fact that Hoffy has that self-critic ability, which like Mr Wright said, should enable him to improve his game and mentality.

What worried me most in that article is that he implied that Kearney might be able to bring more motivation to the player group, possibly meaning Hook wasn't achieving this.
I was of the opinion that this is one of Griffin's most important positives, and I'm not sure what to think about this...

Take it with these 2 grains of salt:
1. He's blowing wind up the arse of his rep coach this week
2. He's blowing wind up the arse of the incoming assistant coach who will no doubt have the coach's ear

It just happens they're the same person :P

That's exactly the way I read it the first time. Just a way of complimenting Kearney.
