Milan Baros, El Hadj Djiof, Salif Diou, Bruno Cheyrou, Florent Sinama Pongolle, Anthony Le Tallec, Andrei Voronin, Jerzy Dudek (minus the UCL Final Shootout), Dirk Kuyt, Craig Bellamy, Robbie Keane, Harry Kewell, Bodewijn Zenden, Jermaine Pennant, Peter Crouch, Jan Kromkamp off the top of my head.

TBF, El Hadji Diouf came off a world cup where people were proclaiming him to be the next big thing. Kewell was a world class player but was hampered by Injury and Zenden was a handy player in his day.

Lovin' this Liverpool bashing, some of you do not have the slightest of clues.

have to add Lucas to that list, he is such garbage.

Do you even watch Liverpool games? Despite my initial Lucas bashing I would go as far to say he has been one of our best this year, certainly close to MOM today and absolutely bossed the midfield with Masch against the Manure twats. Go watch a game before you pull that out, or if you have.. get a clue haha. Lucas has been good this year and at 22 he is doing a damn fine job in the midfield at such a big club.

Liverpool are making me laugh more and more as the season progresses. Complete pretenders. Fans that think they're up for winning the premiership coupled with a donkey of a manager.

Why wouldn't we think we were in with a chance? We were playing the most exciting football in england, if not europe for the second half of last season. And before you say "Yeah but you had Alonso"- we didn't have Alonso when we spanked Man United at Old trafford 4-1. How many teams can/have done that? Not many.

We had 86 points last season (alot of it without Torres and/or Gerrard) and scored the most goals (I believe 14 of our games were without Torres too), took the highest point tally on record to beat us and Man U have lost both Cronaldo and Tevez and are left with Berba"lazy"tov and Valencia as a replacement (whom both have been EXTREMELY average this season).

Our injury list is fucked to say the least. Torres, Gerrard with niggles, Aurelio, Riera, Skrtel, Agger, Aquilani (granted this was known), Skrtel, Johnson all out for multiple weeks since kick-off of the season. And it looks like we will be without Riera and Benayoun (one of our best) for a few weeks too after today.

Couple that with some extremely bad luck you can understand why our season isn't going the way we want it. But to call us pretenders. Rofl. That's cute. Every bookie on this planet begged to differ with you at the start of the season.

The Gymp said:
Well when Dirk Kuyt is considered amongst your forst choice you clearly are pretenders. I have thought Liverpool have sqaundered money for so so so long it isn't funny, Rafa like Houllier before him has made some really strange purchases of players that just don't have the quality to play at the club Robbie Keane being a prime example.

Dirk has had an average season, as has alot of our players granted. He was phenominal last season, 15 goals in all competitions, 12 in EPL and as many assists to boot. He was one of the shining lights for Liverpool last season. Especially when alot of the weight went on him when Torres was injured. He's a typical Rafa player- 110% every game, sure his first touch is miserable but he creates chances and finishes them off too.

Secondly, squandered? Please have a read of this...... so you can understand the limitations in both transfer fees (net spends) and wage bills. Please do have a read before you comment anymore..
http://tomkinstimes.com/2009/10/fao-ope ... urnalists/

Sure, he has made some bad decisions in the transfer market, but he's made some fkn awesome ones, Alonso, Garcia etc Have a read.. It is well documented that Rafa did not want Keane at Liverpool and it was the wishes of the owners, especially at 20 fucking million.

Deifnitely in England we were. Unless you know of another team that were?

mal is right.

Some of the criticism of Liverpool in this thread is way OTT and unfounded.

Whilst i am nowhere near as positive as mal is, you'd have to be blind if you didn't see how brilliant we were at the back end of last season.

We rightly felt we held claims for the title, but defensive problems combined with a copious amount of injuries has hindered those claims.

We haven't been playing the same type of football this season for whatever reason and my patience is running out with Rafa and a couple of players *cough* Kuyt *cough*.

So yeah, i'm a fair bit more negative than mal, but he makes some outstanding points which you should all take note of before posting presumptuous poppycock.

Nothing like kicking someone when they're down though eh?

Haha I'm happy to listen to anything constructive you have to say Scotty. Havn't heard anything yet [icon_lol1.

But hey, feel free to constructively prove any of the points I raised above wrong and I'll be happy to listen... Ie Why is Lucas as bad a signing as you claim? 5m pounds, is now part of the Brazillian squad and has on more than one occassion this season produced MOM-like performances in important games.

Considering he is only 22 years old, playing in one of europes biggest clubs and has improved 10 fold this season after being thrown in the deep end (Filling Alonsos fold). If he was put on the market now he'd fetch alot more than 5mill... so yeah... bad buy.

I don't watch that much Liverpool, but times when I do he seems to make stupid mistakes at crucial points. Watching highlights from this mornings games he again failed to get any purchase on a pretty straightforward chance at goal.

I might have a go later this week, right now I cbf due to exams etc.

But I surely wouldn't be right anyway, as I don't support a prestigious club and therefore know nothing about football.

Ohhhh haha it all makes sense now. You are one of those youtubers. See a highlight reel of a player on youtube and think they are the best thing since sliced bread, or a replay where he missed a shot on goal and he had a bad game [icon_drun . rofl- All this time I thought Rafa used him to control the midfield but he's there to score goals! ****!

But to be honest he has fucked a few chances on goals since his time at Liverpool which sucks balls, but for all his failings (finding the net and his long-range/creative passing) he has done everything else that is asked of him and more this season. Has definitely swayed me (an ex-avid lucas basher).

so you were an avid lucas basher.. but if someone else doesn't think he's the ducks nuts they have no clue about football and only watch it through youtube icon_thumbs_u

Not only does he mess up in front of goal, I have seen him make some awful defensive blunders aswell.

shouldn't be to harsh on Lucas, one of his clumsy defensive efforts gifted everton victory in the fa cup.

He's not the ducks nuts, never said he was. But to say he is shit is pretty humerous considering his recent performances.

Carra, Agger, Skrtel have made defensive blunders this season but I wouldn't exactly go calling them shit defenders? It's like you take one or two bad things and run with it and not make note of all the good things he has done. That's what I was getting at with my youtuber claim.

Watch a game, please.

You talking about Goslings goal? Wait, where did Lucas screw up? Or are you thinking of Arbeloa

But that's exactly my point, he seems to have a habit of make bad mistakes at crucial points! If he can iron that out, he might be a good player, but I have spoken to plenty of kopites who share this view.

no i am talking about him getting sent off for 2 clumsy challenges.

watch a game [icon_wink .

Liverpool are gooorrrnne. From the champions league that is.

It must suck when it seems like all your star players are only fit every other game. Someone tell Rafa to buy a barrel full of horse placenta, apparently it works like a charm.
