A few people have been mentioning Gillett's name as our future lock, whilst others (like myself), reckon Glenn should be our lock for the future.

As we've seen this season and last, Glenn also has the ability to play in the centres.

I'm interested in hearing where people think these two fellas should be playing in the long term. Both are fantastic prospects and have the potential to represent their countries IMO. I'm not jumping the gun, you can just tell they've got big futures in the game. It's pivotal we keep them in our squad over the coming seasons.

It's a conundrum. I see both as back rowers, and then you've got Thaiday, Te'o and Parker who are also very good in the back row. Can't easily fit all 5 into a 17 man team these days.

I tend to agree with you. Glenn is a supreme option for lock. He has it all. Great running game, good passing game (not just offloading), good defence, works hard.

Gillett I can see being our premier second rower though. But obviously he'll have to bide his time behind Thaiday and Parker, and possibly even Te'o, as will Glenn.

I don't see any reason Gillett can't be just as successful as a wide running back rower as he could potentially be at lock.

Worked for Sonny Bill...when he could be bothered and wasn't injured.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I see Gillett's role as well. His running game and ability to offload would be pretty handy out wide in the second row. Further justifies our need to improve support play!

I see Gillet playing better as a second rower running out wide next to the centre's and close to the try line, like Creagh and Hoffman. From what i have seen of Gillet he has far better ball skills then Creagh and Hoffman. I would like to see Gillet with maybe another 6-7kgs heavy'r and maybe a bit more up top around his chest but like everyone has said he is an awsome prospect.

Glen i think will be the furture 13 for the Broncos (and lets hope for a very long time to come). Glen reminds me of a Dallas Johnson/Alan Tounge type footballer with probally better ball skills then both of them aswell. Probally wont be the type of guy that makes 70 tackles a game but will be up there with the best. Personally I think Glen will be better in attack then defence, he seems really quick and light on his feet.

Lets hope the powers at be see both of their potentials and sign both on long contracts, without a dobut both Gillet and Glen alone with Thaiday are the furture in the fowards department for the broncos

He reminds you of Johnson and Tongue, but won't make anywhere near as many tackles and will be better in attack than defence? Pretty sure you just contradicted yourself! [icon_wink

Lol, i didnt mean as in the 70 tackles a game, i ment as in the toughness and always around the ball type of player. Also ment his size too, Most clubs have these big strong tall locks who just run hard a straight, But Johnson and Tounge have shown you dont have to be 7ft and 115kg to be a great lock.

Get where im coming from now?

Glenn at lock and Gillett as a second rower, and I'm actually quite happy for it to happen this year.

Thaiday should be moved to prop, and failing that, Parker should drop to the bench. Over the last few seasons Parker and Thaiday have merged into the same hard working, generic kind of forward. Thaiday is the superior and runs harder, but both basically take runs wide of the ruck without really looking to offload the ball. They both also have this annoying tendency to take their runs into other people's channels. Gus mentioned it on Friday with Thaiday into Lockyer, but Parker is just as bad. He's constantly running diagonally into Folau's/Hodge's space. Furthermore, both have a tendency to take the ball and run it into that space, rather than pass it to the outside man. Potentially promising plays frequently break down when these two take a run instead of passing it. It's ok if they are looking to draw men in and offload it, but neither do, and even if successful, it would be rather ineffective given the receiver of the offload would have nowhere to go, as the offloader has just run into their space!

Both Parker and Thaiday as backrowers at the same time would be murder to our edge play, and should be avoided at all times when Gillett and Glenn are both available.

We're in good hands with either of them. Although ideally you would have both of them out there.

If only Hammoz were still here...he could explain why you should always run sideways into other players' channels :P

Corey Parker is our best lock. His form this yr was great until he was injured, makes heaps of tackles, alot of metres and busts tackles as well. So many people on here seem to have a problem with Parker, I have no idea why. Gillett and Glenn are both awesome, I think Glenn could turn into an awesome centre. Gillett can easily play 2nd row. Whoever said Thaiday should play front row is way off the mark, it's taking a player who is awesome as a wide running forward and putting him into a position that doesn't suit him as much. If we sign Tronc, we have the front row covered.

Gillett is the whitest Polynesian second rower in the game. Loves an offload but the best part is he gives a shit when we are losing.

Would love to see Glenn cement a position rather than playing utility. That said, our best loose forwards on form at the moment are Parker, Thaiday and Gillett. That is a pretty sweet back row.

Once we get our backs in order, Thaiday/Gillett won't have to play 80 mins and can come on as impact players.

I agree 100% with everything you said. You basically read my mind. icon_thumbs_u

I think our future back row will look like this:

11.Gillett
12.Thaiday
13.Parker

14.Glenn
15.Te'o

I'm happy for Thaiday to remain in the backrow infact I prefer it because it does allow him to play much wider but he still does make the valuable metres for the side, but personally I'd prefer Parker play in the secondrow where he can still continue to do what he does best with someone like Gillett or Glenn in at lock who will offer more options in attack overall there for the side then Parker can.

If Parker can stay on the field, not get injured and stop oz-tagging/running into markers he'd be awesome.

There is no dobut that Corey Parker was in probally the best form I've ever seen him in before he was injured. I think he was leading the tackle count in the NRL in the first two games before he got injured. Also has improved his goal kicking which used to be very ordinary. If we sign Tronc
8. Tronc
9. McCullough
10. Kenny
11. Gillet
12. Thaiday
13. Parker
14. Glen
15. Teo
16. Anderson
17. Lui
I dont like this idea of going into games with backs on the bench. We have 2 or three fowards who can cover almost any backs position so just go in with 4 fowards on the bench and if we do get an injury in the backs then Teo, Glen or Gillet can cover it.
