He wasnt pushed enough here. As a club, we allowed him to get away with way too much. As much as he is responsible for a lot of his own actions, we are culpable as well because we didnt set high enough standards.

These blokes are old enough to drink, vote and have a family. If they require constant reminders that they need to put in the hard work and not feed the pokies the night before a knockout final to be successful in professional sport and in this case, earn their million dollar contract, then that’s their problem, no one else’s.

And whilst I agree they can be guided and aided by their club to be successful, they shouldn’t need to be mollycoddled. Clubs should be nothing more than incubators for players to be successful, not crèches for immature morons.

Why would I think that about Taylor? Because I don't follow your anti Milford agenda? You believe the worst about him because you don't like him or you don't rate him, which is fine as well, nobody likes every player.

I believe it because I know what he was like from people who worked and played alongside him. I didn't absolve him from his failings, but I'm not going to give the club a pass either. He was their employee and they allowed him to get away with too much without consequence. They were happy to let him coast for way too long both on and off the field.

The fact is, he was mollycoddled by the Broncos. Milford should have been more professional at times, but you can't not blame Brisbane as well when they didn't pull their employee into line. They had the power to do it and they chose not to.

Thats a fair enough criticism.....although, at the time it was "reported" that Lockyer spoke to him, Milford wasn't in the slump that we saw through 2019-2021. I dunno......all depends how Locky came at him I guess....but its a fair enough statement. Milford was offered help from the Greatest Bronco of all.....and he "reportedly" rejected it.

I don't blame people for having the shits with Milf. He didn't perform to his capability and a lot of it was purely down to him. While I wouldn't exactly call him lazy, just doing what he had to do and no more than that just isn't good enough.

I kind of went off him a couple of years ago. Saw him out a few times and didn't like what I was seeing.

That aside; I love how the go-to argument is to declare someone has an agenda. As a person; I don’t dislike Milford and I don’t like him. I am indifferent to him simply because I don’t know him, so how could I possibly form an opinion of him. His form and application to his profession, however, are right there for everyone to see. That is what I am commenting on.

Bennett couldn’t get him firing. Being on the cusp of Origin couldn’t get him firing. Seibold couldn’t find his way out of the carpark and Walters, who helped him immensely in 2015 and dangled the Origin carrot in front of him for a number of years, couldn’t get him firing. Giving him halves partner A through Z couldn’t “unlock him”. Allowing him to “play his natural game” and give others more responsibility didn’t help either.

So honest question: what more should the club have done?

One last thing. Based on your words, not mine; you don’t know what Milford was like, you know what others who know him thought of him. There’s a big difference. Just because I happen to know Corey Oates’s cousin really well, who has obviously known Corey his entire life, doesn’t mean I know anything more about Oates than anyone else on here.

It's like they were taken care of by their parents and then stepped into a footy club and got parented there too, the first time they are asked to make balanced responsible decisions that don't require a "would you like to play here for 500k or over there for 600k".. they end up on the wrong side of the law

Why get so defensive about having an agenda? We are posting our opinions and bias on a public forum. We all have agendas in one shape or form. It's not a bad thing.

As I said, I've seen first hand Milf do some stuff I didn't like, in front of senior Broncos staff as well I might add and not be pulled up on it. I'm also happy to trust the opinions of people who have played and trained with the bloke for years.

You seem to ignore I've clearly said Milf himself has been a problem. And he has. You can't dress it up any differently. You keep posting what he didn't do, and nobody as far as I can see disagrees with that. But in terms of what more the club could have done ,I'm also saying they could have tolerated far less of some of his off field behaviour. They could have demanded more from him in training and on the field seeing as we were paying him a huge contract. There is no reason at all he couldn't have been told raise your standards and professionalism or you are out the team. They didn't do that until this year. As I said, he's been allowed to coast and keep getting picked on the back of under performance. Nobody tried to bring in some outside help to bring more out of him like a Matty John's for example. He turned Locky down and that was that. We left him to his own devices.

Taylor and Milf are only really similar in terms of them wasting their ability. Dave was lazy, where I don't think Milf is. Milf does what he has to do and no more. Both should have had much better careers than they did have , but I think they have blown it for different reasons.

It could just be that they become so accustomed to having such a high income that the only other avenue outside of the sport to keep that sort of income is crime...

Tough one....fucked if I know. But I do know this, the club has much more finances and resources than I do, to figure it out. 90% of this is on Anthony......the club IMHO, has to take up the remaining 10%.

For sure, I also think there's an element of self gain involved too. For example if you're an attractive younger woman and can lure one of these footy players into potentially forcing themselves onto you.. you'd probably have a few media outlets wanting to pay you to hear your story

I am not saying they're all innocent and I definitely don't condone sexual harassment but having read the Jarryd Hayne instagram messages, there was definitely a bit of luring involved there by the woman, if someone was messaging me like that, I would sort of expect to get it wet

From my perspective, it's more what they failed do. I couldn't see Melbourne tolerating how he went about things. The bloke smokes like a chimney for a start. Surely somebody should have been pulling him up on shit like that.

Actually you are wrong, they did that with Matty Johns, they also sent him and the other halves down to North Melbourne to receive specialised skill training on their kicking.

In a bid to extract the best of his playmaking spine, Broncos coach Anthony Seibold sent Milford, Darius Boyd, Andrew McCullough and Kodi Nikorima to Sydney over summer to work closely with former Origin and Test pivot Johns.

Johns said he was particularly impressed by Milford, insisting the 24-year-old was reaching a critical mid-point of his career where his talent and desire would combine to make him as dominant as retired champion Thurston.
