NEWS Milford Discussion Thread

I made the Dave Taylor comparison earlier and I think it’s at least partly accurate.

I recall Bennett said coaching Taylor would do your head in, or words to that effect.

Now I’m not saying Milford is the exact same, but it seems he does (or did) have a penchant for doing only the bare minimum which, once other clubs figured him out, simply wasn’t enough.

I don't believe the likes of Ricky Stuart(Canberra) or WB would have accepted that.......

Canberra put up a pretty good fight to keep Milford.

Is it fair to say......... amongst the positives and negatives group interested in Anthony Milford

That it all went to shit.....after the MIIILLLIIION dollar contract?

I don’t know that the contract is the whole reason, but I certainly agree that it didn't help

From the outside looking in, it seemed he was happy to take more money but wasn’t too keen on putting in more effort.

As I love cliches: cake and eat it too.

and in turn we (Brisbane Broncos) as a club ...and I guess I'm aiming at the higher administration here, seemed to say, well if you're on that much money now.....you're on your own.

Milford to the Dolphins. Hunt to be next?

They might as well sign him because who else is there? They’ll pretty much sign anyone without a club for 2023 no matter how washed that player might be

They could always go with some fresh faces from junior clubs, or even overseas? If anyone can get Milford to fire again, it's probably Bennett. And if cheap, why not lol

Good luck to the Phins keeping him fit for an entire 12+ months sitting on his ass plus the stress of his personal issues. He is going to be huge come December

He will be cheap, get him on a 12 month deal and they really dont have a great deal to lose in all honesty.

He was always going there and I wouldn’t be surprised if his halves partner ends up being No-Longer-Any-Cash Taylor.

Farrrk me, I never thought I would come close to feeling sorry for the Phins but here we are. Who the **** is going to spend money to turn up and watch those two flops?

Serious question; do you truly believe he can get back to anywhere near his best?
He’ll be out of the game for a while so it’ll be hard. With the goat coaching him tho it’s possible, albeit probably a lower ceiling.

@Wolfie ?

I will!

I think it would be a bit of a risk signing both as your halves pairing. I think you need at least one half who has been consistently decent. Those two havent been.

These stories never change their path, Milford's next contract will be for free meals at the local tavern in some bush league.

I reckon Townsend will get moved on, and Cows will subsidise him for Dolphins. Chad's a good signing at a decent price, but at 850k Cows will surely realise their mistake.
