Kent raised a good point on NRL 360 about the yin and yang of coach's temperaments. If you look back at all of our coaches, we haven't had a single abrasive coach. Bennett, Henjak, Griffin & Seibold were all relatively softly spoken and rarely gave sprays. Walters will be much of the same. Perhaps Green is what we need, someone who isn't afraid to call players out for their attitude and efforts.

Kent could have a point, that does largely describe Bennett, Griffin and Seibold's approach. Henjak on the other hand was the complete opposite - he made everybody feel uncomfortable because he'd eviscerate rookies for not coming up with plays that even the senior players would have struggled with. It's why the playing group gravitated towards Hook who was promoted to assistant and was making a lot of positive changes. When they departed ways with Peter Ryan they brought in Griffin and the defence basically improved over night.

Anthony Griffin was building a nice Roster up until he was axed for Bennett’s return. He already knows a lot of the young players and he’s learned a lesson or two from his time at Penrith.

He might be worth considering.....

I did think Oates needed to put some weight on

In an ideal world I would like Walters as head coach as the good cop and then a couple of highly decorated assistant coaches to be the bad cops at training. Not sure if Greeny would go back to being an assistant, probably not, but he'd be ideal.

Head Coach: Kevin Walters (Good Cop)
Assistant Coach: Paul Green (Attack) (Bad Cop)
Assistant Coach: Stephen Kearney (Defence) (Bad Cop)
Assistant Coach: Justin Hodges (Outside backs / Player welfare) (Good Cop)
Kearney is probably the gentlest man on the planet. No way he has bad cop in him

At the Catalan Dragons. **** me, its like coaching the warriors of the super league.

Did he then come back to Australia to work as an assistant to Craig Bellamy? I think he has done his time is ready for an nrl head coaching role. It’ll take balls for someone to start leading the climb out of the hole we’re in.

I've seen him get pretty heated in the sheds, I think he's got a bad cop in him. You can't exactly be the nice guy when you're the defensive coach (Although our defence was awesome when he was here, so I'd like him to come back and do whatever he was doing last time, lol)

Our desperation and goal line defence was good in 2015 (except for THAT moment in the GF), but teams still marched right upfield because we had no line speed and sat back and waited. With the new rules, i dont think that type of defence would work.

even if it proves NOT to be a successful period, regardless the club itself needs a Walters right now to start healing self inflicted wounds and rediscover why we are the Broncos

Do that, and his tenure will be a success.

If he can then turn the club into contenders again, thats a welcome bonus....

But timing is everything, its time for the club to turn to Kevin....dont overthink this...just do it...

Love that team but I think you have Kearney and Hodges back the front in terms of good cop/bad cop.

That's not a good point at all, Henjak was more than abrasive he was abusive- (Might not be the right word).

He was the angriest man ever- players hated him running the water because he would abuse them. Always acknowledged that he was brilliant with tactics but people wise it was terrible. Four staff quit under Henjak.

Henjak end of year review in 2010 was a mess with players and staff highlighting his people problems. That's what cost him his job.

Bennett can spray with the best of them too.

So basically Kent hasn't a clue, exactly what I thought (and everyone else)

It has to be Walters. The club needs to be put back together by someone who understands the club and the values that made it so successful. There is none better then Kev.
Not to mention the immediate respect he would have walking into the top job and the pull he would have on future signings

Make the Broncos great again

I am reluctant to ever have an opinion about a coach again.

Kevvie will be like a beer on the back steps with your grandpa. He will bring fun back and give everyone a cuddle.
Yeah but I hope he can turn things around.
