Who should it be?

Green, Parr and Ikin will be on board. All ex Cowboys.

Well, that's an imaginative retelling for sure. History has proven the Broncos management were wrong. From what I remember WB offered a plan where he finished up this year before transitioning to a coaching director role in 21. We know Seeplod was a failure and I could imagine the 2020 Broncos doing everything they could to send him out a winner. I feel we wouldn't be in the shithouse like now had they listened.
I cannot see how there could be any logical argument to the contrary. I don't know whether we would currently be a genuine title chance had we gone with Bennett's plan, who knows we may have, but we would definitely have been much improved on the absolute clusterfuck we have become. We would have been in the 8 and preparing for a run into the finals.

With the benefit of hindsight, it can only be seen as a huge own goal by our club management. They thought they were doing the right thing, they thought that the future was Seibold, clearly they were completely wrong. I would be fascinated to know the extent of the due diligence investigations.

Because I'm pretty sure that's what you're remembering. I don't recall hearing anything about a proposition from Bennett to White about coaching the Broncos in 2020 and then being coaching director in 2021.

Maybe I just missed it, would you mind linking the story / quotes?
No Huge is right, that did happen.

No clue, sorry. I know he wants to coach Origin this year no matter what happens.

Well shit Kev, I'm not too sure I agree with you there. Seriously buddy, if you do happen to get the coaching gig with us, I think it might be wise that you dedicate all your time and effort into fixing up our mess before you worry about origin. Priorities mate.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but it was said on NRL 360 last night that the board is leaning towards Green as coach because they don't want seem like they're buckling under pressure from the old boys....

Channel Nine Footy show panel was garbage last Sunday in the segment inside the ten. The panel Peter Sterling, Brent Read, Andrew Webster, and David Riccio all backed Paul Green. They mentioned he was a proven coach who had won a premiership. Of course they conveniently left out the fact Greens last three seasons with the Cowboys has been rubbish.

There was some suggestion on the panel though that Kevin Walters may work if Wayne Bennett was director. Read suggested Broncos should have a Green and Walters combination with one of them being assistant. It won't happen, both would likely bork at being assistant for each other and not named head coach.

I think I saw Read reference something like that in NRL Tonight before BUT I could certainly be wrong.

Sorry mate you might be right, I didn't see NRL Tonight.

I think that was all Kent thinking out loud with a 1+1= PG.

I dont think he even claimed that he had sources... he's a NSWRL "journo" that's obsessed with Sydney teams.

I'm not sure what Chris Garry and Brent Read have been saying about it, but I'd be more inclined to lean towards their info than Paul Kent.

Also even if he is correct then that is just more ineptitude from the board to pick the wrong coach just to spite the old boys.

If their only agenda is to make enemies with all the legends that made the club in the first place then they will have an entire city after them ... I think Parker and Hodgo have been leaning towards Kevvie as well and they're usually going with the company line

we should allow him to coach Origin either ... if he gets the job he has a lot of work to do for us

Kevin Walters has now ruled out quitting coaching Queensland at this years state of origin. Regardless of whether he lands the Broncos job or not.

Queensland coach Kevin Walters has confirmed he won't walk away from his State of Origin commitments this year if he's offered Brisbane's NRL gig.
The Broncos legend is believed to be one of two serious options for the position along with former North Queensland coach Paul Green, who orchestrated the Cowboys' 2015 NRL title.

However, with the three-week Origin series set to start on November 4, Walters said he will not be walking away from his role as Maroons coach to take up early with the Broncos.
"I'm fully committed to Origin this year," he told Big Sports Breakfast on Monday.

"We've put a lot of work into it and I'm very excited about what's going to happen in November from a Queensland point of view and that's been my driving force all year.
"I'm really looking forward to that."
Walters, who won five premierships as a player with the Broncos, has consistently said he hasn't had contact with the club over the vacancy for 2021.
However, his name is being pushed by Broncos' old boys and his potential appointment has garnered growing support.
And while the Broncos will not rush into finding a replacement for Anthony Seibold, Walters is willing to be patient in pursuit of his dream job.

Let's go all new age rubbish and appoint co-coaches, what could go wrong?

It’s a pandemic. Kevvy wants to get paid this year.

Didn't Souths want Seibold to extend as well????
Yes.
This one of the reasons the club offered him the 5 year deal.
Souths had offered him 4 years so he wasn't walking away from his successful start there unless he had a good deal and the Broncos thought they had their man......

Correct, he's absolutely ballsed up the time line and the reasons for Bennett being unhappy with the Bellamy situation. I can't tell if he's so infatuated with Paul White that he genuinely doesn't realise he's got it twisted around or that he is aware of it and is deliberately twisting it so Bennett looks like he was the one being sneaky when it's absolutely obvious that it was White and the Broncos going behind Bennett's back and making moves hoping not to get caught.
I think it may have been a bit of both.
From memory, Bennett had suggested the club should be looking at Bellamy and asked the club to keep him informed of any progress.
The club had a meeting with Bellamy but had not told Bennett and he found out about it (through the media I think) and got the shits that they had held the meeting without telling him they were going to.
It all went pear shaped from there...
That's my recollection of the time-line anyway.
