Yep, they screwed the pooch royally with the transition. All of White's comments about Wayne being allowed to see out his contract (and the howling of White's fanboys) need to be viewed in light of him trying over and over to negotiate a coaching swap with Souths. As I recall these were agreed to by the two clubs and Siebold but Bennett steadfastly refused to go back on his commitment to the players that he would indeed coach them in 2019. Using any contact between Bennett and Souths, who were telling him the Broncos position that he'd be gone by 2019, as an excuse to sack him without a payout was just a fig leaf so White could brag about saving a few hundred grand - and gross hypocrisy seeing as how Seibold was asked by the Broncos for his input on our team while he was still employed by Souths. They alienated the best coach this club has ever had, the players, a lot of fans and gave an untested 1 year coach with no roots in this club or connection with the players the worst possible start he could have here. The real issue then is of course that, after guaranteeing Bennett the job for 2019, the club instead shafted him, which is why he was justly pissed off
Words just don't do justice to how badly the front office mob fucked this up when they decided their corporate games, personal feuds and balance sheets were more important than the football team.
