NRL 2023 Finals Week 3 Discussion

Yeah, GWS, and it has been since years that Penrith, Parra, and Canterbury have been gaining leg-ups. Gus went there in 2011 (2 years after GWS began) and I have no doubt he used the AFL encroachment in that area to beg for funding to set up the grassroots system they have there to compete with the AFL youth activities.

side note: The bulldogs stuffed up their side of things more recently, but going back to that time, you will see that Western Sydney NRL clubs have been quite prominent in the NRL.
Forgot to mention Souffs. But really it is Parra and Penrith.

It's not just ligaments, you also tear muscles. After a bit of physio you can live a good life if your muscles have built back up to support the area but that's where my doubt is, it's only been 3 weeks or so. I did my knee and they got it back in but then it came back out when they tried to get my knee up for an x-ray. Hasn't happened since and I am comfortably able to do squats and the like.

There was a period there though where I could feel it sliding laterally and that's scary as shit, if your knee comes out, you're gonna hit the deck. I actually fractured my wrist when it happened the first time because I used my hand to brace myself for the fall.
I tore everything completely :( but maybe Luai was luckier. I have been working on my rehab for ages because my operation was postponed indefinitely. Good thing I enjoy shoulder exercises.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Melbourne got up here. There's an almost universal expectation that Penrith will win and Melbourne will go out with a whimper - but it just gives me the vibe of a massive upset occuring.

I don't really want to play either of these teams in the GF, should we win through, so I don't even know who I'll be going for. Penrith look like the only team that can challenge us on our day, but despite the win the other week I still can't help but fear the Storm.

Ideally its either Muster and Grant, or Edwards and Crichton out injured/suspended for the grand final.

The fact that Melbourne have led Penrith in both games, yet still lost..

Significant mental advantage to Penrith on that. A lot would need to go against Penrith to lose tonight you feel, NAS would need to have a career best game.

Luai plays in a dinner suit anyway. He's such a flog that teams have always tried to get to him but (and I sound like a broken record here) he only runs if he can get between defenders (and not get hit hard front on), otherwise he just skips around and dumps it off.

In defence he's also been able to hide, but they just said in the pre-game that Tago has a shoulder or pec injury too, and they defend next to each other, so there is a definite target there. You'd have to stretch them so the inside can't get across quick enough, but if Munster tries to get between Luai & Tago and draws them both in it will leave their winger against his centre & winger. Coates might get another couple of "fall over the line" tries so the media can tell everyone that the Broncos should have tried to keep him.

Munster doesn't play on the right so that won't be happening.

I want the game to go to golden point so that regardless who wins, they will be buggered!

I'll be cheering on Big Nelson tonight to be the wonderful grub we know he is. Hopefully he can do some damage to Luai who i'm sure he wont forget gave him that flying shoulder.

if Brisbane had a 80k seater stadium we would sell it out for tomorrow, this crowd is pretty low.
