CROSS FORUM NRL 2023 Round 8 Discussion

Melbourne were an offshoot of Super League and gained all the players from Perth and Hunter who were now defunct. They had guys like Lazo, Noddy, Bai, Hill, Geyer etc. They had massive advantages that most expansion franchises don't enjoy.

Redcliffe are a team of misfits, has been and never will be's. Yet they are still hanging around. They have massive deficiencies and have no business winning a single game. Yet they may win enough to clinch a playoff berth. It's a real feel good RL story in the making.
Bai made his debut for the Gold Coast the previous season, Brett Kimmorley in 3 seasons in first grade had 16 appearances to his name. Scott Hill 23 in 2 seasons, Matt Geyer 6, they weren't seasoned compaigners at their peak. Yes the Storm had a better squad on paper but they were still a very inexperienced side and the expectations weren't for them to make the eight.

BTW I'm not trying to take anything away from the dolphins, I'm merely saying that they might be able to achieve what the Storm did in the first season and make the finals.

Gotta admit the birdbros are pretty likeable these days, seem like a good family club. Not sure when they lost their aura of being the c#nts everyone hated in Hoppa's day. Cherry's probably the nicest bloke in league after our Roger.

Fake Benji's going alright for the Tigs, they're a chance if they keep up the wrap-around festival.

Lazarus, Nikau, Kearns, Howe & Ross were their stand-outs.

Brett Kimmorley in 3 seasons in first grade had 16 appearances to his name.
And did enough to represent Australia.

I don't think there's a comparison. The Melbourne Storm was a merger at a time where there was an excess of talent. Dolphins were forced into the competition when there was hardly any talent around and they had to negotiate with players while dealing with COVID restrictions.

I like Manly, there I said it. Good luck in 2nd half fellas. Not sure who to hate now, except for the Eels of course, slimy pack of ne'r do wells.

I swear every second tackle in the NrL is a hipdrop except they choose to pick and penalise only certain ones

As seen over the weekend, it'll only be punished if there is an injury or someone stays down. There have been worse ones ignored since the 3 in Broncos vs Parra

Can anybody beat anybody in the NRL? Seems to be zero consistency 😂😂

Manly being the first team losing to the Tigers this season? sounds good to me.

Well now wait a minute. Dolphins have a lot of representative talent in their team.

Nicholls has won a premiership.

The Dolphins are not a slouch team.
