Fox report Benny Elias’ yarn on the Matty Johns show as an “hilarious act of gamesmanship“ .The lowlife bit his own hand and then accused Mario Fenech of biting and got him sent off.

To promote this sort of underhanded character assassination as hilarious further exacerbates the very classless action and sets a poor example for our sport.

It does reveal the extent NSW players will go to ‘win’ at sport.

$6.3 Million

That leaves roughly $3 Million left to spend which roughly comes to $215,000 on average
Is it players 27-30 are $80k or something?

I'm not sure what the revised rules are for the minimum wage players, etc. and the 6% discount across the board.

I think Brodie Croft is potentially a deal that starts to hurt us now. I agree that he's around the $450-$500k mark and it seems he's likely to play it out in ISC. For his sake he may need to push a move to secure a future elsewhere.

Gee that parasite Wiedler has fairly given it to Matt Lodge in the SMH. He has deliberately went out of his way to paint Lodge in a bad light. This of course directly follows on from a sycophantic puff piece about how benevolent Uncle Nick of the Rorters are and how Suaalii couldn't have picked a better club in the comp to play for. Vomit inducing arse kissing at its finest Danny.

It's being reported that the Eels may only have 16 eligible players for this weekends magic round

due to COVID concerns in Sydney, all NSW teams were warned against playing their fringe first graders in the NSW Cup last weekend. all other teams complied except the Eels who ran the risk and played theirs. anyone that played in the NSW Cup last week is not permitted to immediately return to an NRL teams bubble.

From last weeks game against the Roosters, the Eels have 2 players suspended (Brown and Niukore) and 1 player under an injury cloud (Mahoney)

they asked the NRL for an exemption but that hasn't been granted, the other NSW teams have no sympathy for them since the were warned about playing their fringe players and played them anyway. the NRL are concerned about the QLD Government's notorious border closure policy.

Rabbitohs chief executive Blake Solly says:

“We, like many other clubs, have a long injury list amongst our top 30 and development squads,” Rabbitohs chief executive Blake Solly told the Herald.

“When the information was given to us on Thursday night that we’d move to level three protocols, we made our decision to remove the top 30 and development players from the NSWRL competitions.

“I think we all appreciated the risks if we didn’t and made decisions that ultimately challenged us over the weekend. If a club took the risk and allowed their players to play, they should have to face the consequences of taking that risk.”

Panthers boss Brian Fletcher echoed Solly’s sentiment.

“I think when everyone does the right thing, it’s pretty hard to have an exception for one club,” Fletcher said.

“It doesn’t worry us whatever happens, but we all tried to do the right thing. You’d find it difficult for one club to get special treatment. I get they might have certain circumstances, but they would have been fine if they did what we all did and pulled our players out.”

the email sent to the clubs says:

“All NRL squad players who are part of the club’s Apollo Register [i.e. bubble] and are eligible for NRL Competition, must comply with the protocol,” the email sent to all clubs last Thursday said.

“If any squad members wish to participate in second-tier competitions this weekend they must leave the bubble until further notice. This situation will be reviewed for next week.”

The Warriors stuck by the COVID restrictions to the letter of the law last year and as a result missed out on so many family affairs.

If anyone deserves to benefit from the Eels being absolute dicks it's them. The Eels were given fair warning and chose to ignore it; make them play with 16 I say.

Penrith were amazing, they lost 12/17 players from their NSW CUP side and Peter Wallace.

They took 9 from St.Mary's, Ron Massey Cup and eight Jersey Flegg and won 46-18 against Newtown.

They are top of the table undefeated in in NRL, NSW CUP and Under 21's- Flegg- but they have lost one game and had a draw.

22/24 games across the three teams. Flegg has a draw and a loss but still top of the table.

Or even worse. Lend them Milford.

There hasn't been such a dominant team since the Roosters circa 2004 if ever.

With that said, I read that report from Gus and thought it was fairly disingenuous. They were up against a Newtown side made primarily up of Glebewood players and 9/17 Panthers had already played NSW Cup prior to the game. Still a tremendous effort all the same to come back from 14-0 down and win by nearly 30, it just needs proper context.

Titans lead 12-team revolt against NRL over expansion. This is the headline in the Daily Telegraph. Behind a paywall but I'm sure @McHunt will be all over it shortly.

Watch this space.
Sorry @Jedhead I only cover Broncos and ex-Broncos stories news. **** the second Brisbane team. Insane idea. I'm interested in them poaching our players or landing Bennett, but that's about it. At this stage it's all pure speculation.

The only reason I see why v’landys is trying to go ahead with the second brisbane team is to weaken us some more. He can see a real opportunity to get bronco supporters to switch as we’re in such a state.

I don’t see any other logical reason for another team in brisbane to be introduced.

Two more teams gets an extra game on TV, which gives the broadcasters more advertising to sell. We're being weakened deliberately just so as many people as possible jump ship to Brisbane II, because if it's another Crushers it won't be viable. I suspect the deliberate handicapping will continue for at least the first few years of their existence, in order to keep their hype up.

I agree and I think Titans have every right to be concerned. It’ll hurt them just as much as it’ll hurt us.
