the politician Peter Vlandy's has "intervened" in the CBA talks and now it looks like the big ticket items could be agreed to be the end of the week.

It is being reported that until now Vlandy's has only had a "minor" role in the negotiations, but took a seat at the table today and is expected to be front and centre for the remainder of the week as the parties attempt to thrash out a final deal.

"sources" close to negotiations say they would be surprised if the big ticket items were not agreed by the end of the week.

Not a big stretch to make that assumption given the season is a week and a half away.

Well they did lose Ryan Hall a couple of years back, so they should still have move money to chase Farnworth.

Either replaces Tupou(age) or Suaalii(union) I would say, could probably play centre as well, their left centre position isn't that special, while I hate roosters taking talents I think it's good for England to have their players in NRL playing for better teams, Newcastle is a liability at this point.

Yep, can't blame him for getting out of Newcastle but it just sucks he is going to the team with no salary cap.

Are you surprised that they couldn't sign an Australian rep forward to anything other than a depth contract until the CBA was sorted, but as soon as those numbers were crunched all of a sudden they have room for him PLUS one of the boomiest of boom rookies on the market?

An excellent point, but I'm not implying they need to move someone on...just that they must be or a player has indicated they will be. Sua'ali'i has been rumoured to be eyeing off union and Tupou is getting on a bit (in roosters terms anyway). Plus the simple factor of top 30.
