NRL Membership Challenge

Just saw on foxsports (the charity shield game) that Souths and the Dragons tied in the race to 10,000 ticketed members to win $50,000.

I want to know why the Broncos didn't win the 50k because they well and truely got to 10, 000 members first? weren't they allowed to be a part of this challenge or what? :roll: [icon_non

You guys already had 11k ticketed members from 2009 anyways. So you guys were fine. The Broncos have been pushing membership and ticketed membership for a few years and being a 1 team town makes that achievement that much easier. Plus if you want a good seat at Suncorp you need to be a ticketed member or you get up in the shitty nose bleed seats.

For the NSW teams. Many have long been waiting on hand outs from Leagues clubs for many years. PHAC and Russell Crowe brought this membership drive idea to the NRL's attention.

As in their first year in the helm we pushed membership and copied similar ideas used by AFL team St Kilda. It is good to see the NRL are pushing it. Hopefully in the next 5 years all teams will have atleast 10k ticketed members and this will help grow and sustain teams.

The AFL is so successful as the AFL mindset is that you are not a true fan unless you are a member. Rabbitohs and St George fans have come to terms with this and are paying up more so than last year.

We received a lot of backlash for the members christmas message from Russell Crowe last year or the year before. In its defense it worked a treat and people to paid up. With a good season it will just go higher. A bad season it will stay the same as we are a faithful bunch.

I agree on the fact that the Broncos should be rewarded with something for their successful membership numbers, but again it is a lot easier to achieve it in your situation. Personally you guys should have more members with your success over the years and 1 team town situation. You guys have great crowd figures as we know but another 5k of them should be able to pay up and become members.

Maybe it was not advertised properly.

Eradicates this shit? LOL it was a very good marketing concept, which Rugby League is seeing the fruit from.

Hopefully when the Titans and Cowboys get their act in order we can have a three way QLD challenge. It'd be a great driver for members for all three clubs.
