NRL Membership Challenge

great incentive imo. about time the other clubs started doing something about revenue raising so we can finally raise the salary cap and keep the good players in the nrl.

How about NRL clubs sponsor speed cameras in their local areas? Then get a cut of the revenue from them? Awesome! :P

Then thats a load of crap, once again the NRL are showing how the N in NRL stands for NSW not National. I hope the new IC eradicates this shit.

Um it's NSW teams that have financial problems. Imagine if we let the Broncos into this? "Oh hai guys, first to get to 10,000 members gets $50,000....oh wait Broncos are already there. Good work Broncos, you get the $50,000..."

Seriously, come on let's use some common sense here.
Exactly!
There is no point including the Broncos in this challenge.

So....if I read this correctly can I assume that the MINIMUM crowd at a Rabbitohs game this year should be 17,000? Or is this just more people marching on the Town Hall steps that will go back into their warrens by Round 3?

Yeah that must be it. Otherwise there are a lot of Rabbitohs fans wasting a hell of a lot of money on tickets to every game then not showing up.

Edit: Phil Rothfield says this "I can only go off the official list supplied by the NRL. They tell me it’s the full list of members - both ticketed and non-ticketed - at each club. I’ll correct it if proven otherwise."

Pfft - like Phil Rothfield would ever double-check a source!

lol @ the idiots leaving comments on that page having a go at the Bronocs about membership numbers. Do they take note of the attendance we get most weeks in comparison to Sydney clubs?

Fair enough. Broncos' non-ticketed memberships (stampede, club buck and below the border) would only make up 1000 or so max I reckon.

That tally is a mixture of ticketed totals and non ticketed totals. I know some clubs don't disclose either on their websites. That list for Souths and I am guessing Dragons too, is including non ticketed memberships.

It is on the Souths website under the main banner. As of 6.30pm today it says 11,005 ticketed members and a total membership of 17,532. So, that 6000+ could be kids memberships, non ticketed memberships and international memberships.

What is a non-ticketed membership? What's the point?

If Souths had a non ticketed membership where you don't have to pay anything or attend any games then that's another 99,000 members in an instant.

The reason i questioned this race in the first place, is that I don't think a competition that wants to be truely national, should hold this sort of thing while excluding several clubs just because of where they are located.

They should have a competition next year. First to 16,000 ticketed members. Open to every team with a bigger prize at the end of it.

Though the idea for the competition for NSW teams was to get fans to grasp the ticketed membership idea. Some teams area faster than others at catching on.

This can't be a serious statement? Let me put it this way. Souths have the most expensive non ticketed membership at $100 ($90 if done online).

So, that 6000 non ticketed members (if they are all adults) have just put $600,000 into the Souths bank account. That is almost half of what some of the leagues clubs are putting in due to the pokie taxes. Days of living on the smell of an oily rag and just money raised from meat trays and chook raffles are long gone.
