Re: NRL Player Movements and Rumours 2016
He suits the Titans
He suits the Titans
That's a shame. Falling straight into another contract might mean he doesn't actually learn anything from his sacking. Hopefully Neil Henry can screw Hurrell's head on properly though, he's good to watch when he can be bothered to turn up.
Hurrell a Titan. Article out soon.
Well, it worked out for James Roberts I guess, so we'll have to wait and see.If he's a dickhead in Auckland, imagine what the GC will do to him.
1. Mead
2. Hoffman/Nene
3. Hurl
4. Nene/Hoffman
5. WHo the **** else do they have?
The main goal is to get rid of Zillman I guess.
Canberra forward Mitch Barnett is likely to be granted a release and start official talks to join Newcastle mid-season if Junior Paulo's Raiders move is fast-tracked.The likelihood of Eels prop Paulo joining Canberra before the June 30 transfer deadline is growing, with manager Sam Ayoub asking for an early release and Raiders boss Don Furner insisting Paulo would thrive in the capital away from Sydney.
There are reports Paulo could play his final game for the under seige Eels at Newcastle on Monday night before joining the Raiders.
Paulo's management believe it's best for Paulo's welfare to join Canberra immediately after NSW Police issued him with a warning for allegedly consorting with convicted criminals.
The warning came after Fairfax Media published a photo Paulo had put on social media, showing him with fellow Eel Corey Norman and Penrith's James Segeyaro having dinner with former bikies boss Paulie Younan and money launderer Rafat Alameddine.
Back rower Barnett played two NRL games last year and is contracted until the end of 2017, but has struggled to break into first grade with Canberra's forward depth amongst the best in the competition.
He has been strongly linked to the Knights for weeks, and his management has asked for a release on a handful of occasions.
It is understood the potential early arrival of Paulo, who is signed with Canberra for 2017 and 2018, will fast track Barnett's return to Newcastle.
The 22-year-old grew up near Taree and was part of Newcastle's system as a 17 and 18 year old before the Raiders swooped.
He was named NSW Cup player of the year after an outstanding campaign with Raiders feeder club Mounties.
It is understood the Knights were keen to broker a swap deal with the Raiders for Barnett when Joe Tapine signed with Canberra on season eve.
However the rapid deterioration of Tapine's relationship with Knights management ensured the Raiders snared the junior Kiwi without being forced to offload any players.
Former Newcastle centre Joey Leilua has also been in outstanding form for the Raiders after he was signed midway through last year.
Several clubs expressed strong interest in Barnett after the Raiders officially signed Paulo in March.
Subsequent long term injuries to veteran forwards Sia Soliola and Jeff Lima meant Canberra was unwilling to release him in case their pack was decimated further.
Barnett attempted to get out of his contract to sign a richer deal with Gold Coast Titans late last year, after his management alleged a contract hadn't been lodged with the NRL.
But he returned to Canberra to honour the remaining two years of his contract after the Raiders produced the document.
The Knights are struggling at the foot of the NRL table and Barnett is likely to walk straight into Nathan Brown's young team should he be granted a release.
Canberra is building an imposing young pack with Tapine, Paulo, Paul Vaughan, Shannon Boyd and Elliott Whitehead signed long term, while talks are continuing with off-contract lock Luke Bateman.
Tamou has told his team mates this morning that he's leaving the Cowboys at the end of the year to return to Sydney, Panthers favourites.
