NRL Player Movement and Rumours 2016

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

I'd be pretty happy with that.

Oates and Mansour could have a similar impact for us to the pairing of Sailor and Tuqiri.

Add in a center pairing of Kahu and Roberts

Have Boyd chiming in from the back

Hunt and Milford steering the ship

And you have the deadliest backline in the comp

and we will run inglis off the bench for shits and gigs

my stance on Inglis hasn't changed ... he can stay at that rabble of a club South Sydney

I agree
my stance on that will never change

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Can I just say, why don't we entice Gagai back. When he sees how poor the Knights will likely to stay for some time yet and the potential premierships at Brissy, he might well come.

1. Boyd
2. Oates
3. Kahu
4. Roberts
5. Gagai

Not bad at all right? I just feel he would probably be cheaper than Mansour and DEFINITELY cheaper (and younger) than Inglis. Any chance of it actually happening?

I don't think paying Gagai the money he is on now or likely to command to sit on the wing is ideal TBH. Need to target a young bloke who can develop. Too much money spent on the backs when forwards lay the foundation.

I think Wayne offered Gagai a spot at the Broncos when he took over but Dane wanted to stay in Newcastle. It's a fair enough decision and I respect him for it. I'm not sure whether he'd be on less coin than Mansour though, if he is then either Mansour is overpaid or Dane's playing for unders.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Dragons have offered Blake Green $700k over the next 2 seasons, presumably he takes it. I'd say the Storm will announce the Nikorima signing once Green officially leaves, especially now that Keary is off the table, who was their first choice Five-Eighth.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

I heard Green in negotiations with Manly.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Heard the same thing, walker to centre and Green in to 5/8.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Mansour has re-signed with the Panthers.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

That's a stack of backline players they will have next season.

There's actually not that many when you factor in that Yeo & Peachey prefer the backrow, Hardaker is only on contract until the end of this season & both Jennings brothers are off contract.

1. Moylan
2. Mansour
3. Hiku
4. Whare
5. Watene-Zelezniak

Depth: Blake

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Tedesco is being offered a million to remain a Tiger for life

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

$1m per season until 2021 seems like unders to be honest, considering the cap is inevitably going to go up by quite a lot over the next few years. (Channeling my Daniel Dowell)

I predict we'll be paying league average players $600k-$800k by 2021, at which point his value will potentially be closer to $2m-$2.5m. That's why I think it's a great idea to sign marquee players to these 4 or 5 year deals right now, because by 2018 or so they'll be on your roster at a fraction of their market value.

This is a case where I wouldn't be against raising the salary cap so players can make even more money and at times, pay them what they are worth. Players like Cameron Smith, Jonathan Thurston, Jarryd Hayne (expecting him to be back), Billy Slater, James Tedesco etc are worth millions and all players who play consistent first grade deserve a good pay check considering how much work goes in to play Rugby League at this level.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Considering his history with injuries, the Tigers should not sign Tedesco up long term.

They need to learn from their mistakes. They made a similar decision with Chris Lawrence and look how well that turned out.

He's playing alright for them, they just re-signed him again didn't they? I suppose he did miss a lot of games through injury over the last 3-4 years.

How much work goes into it exactly? I'm interested to know why a player is worth over $1 million a year based on that. You're saying these guys deserve a far larger wage than those who run the world?
