NSW inspiration Paul Gallen is poised to announce he will play on in rugby league until the end of 2016. But he will call a close on his representative days after next year.

The Blues skipper and his manager, David Riolo, have spoken privately about extending his deal at Cronulla for one more year. He is off contract after next season.


“There is a rumour floating around at the moment. Me and my manager have spoken about it,” Gallen said. “We haven’t tabled anything to them (Cronulla) at the moment and I don’t even know if he has been to them. We spoke about it a couple of weeks ago.

The Sharks truly are stupid. They've signed Ennis but why they let Liichaa go is anybodys guess. They finally get a decent junior coming through and they let him get pinched.

I don't think they had much choice in the Lichaa deal.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Lichaa left due to the whole ASADA drama and the sweet pay packet at Canterbury. Cronulla would had to have paid overs for a prospect.

Ennis is probably the best hooker on the open market and while they probably paid overs for him I think he's an upgrade on Morris/De Gois and will improve their pack while giving Carney time to do his own thing.

Time to cut their losses on Lichaa and start blooding Fa'manu Brown.
