If Glenn Stewart leaving didn't ensure that DCE remains at Manly, then this will if it's true.

I wouldn't mind the Broncos trying to pick up Watmough. We could use him in our forward pack, but I highly doubt that he will leave Sydney.

Watmough is on borrowed time, he has a very serious neck injury that isn't going to get better with time. He is only managing it as it is and it would be a terrible chance to take on an ageing injured forward whose best days are close to being behind him. Aside from being a grub he might infect the Broncos with some Manly whingeritis.

Sour grapes from the Manly players. It's not like they took unders to stay with Manly. They took back-ended deals, which meant they'd still get their cash, but it actually relied on there being fewer big $$ players in the later years of their contracts. I've also been noticing that wherever possible they've been shutting DCE out of their plays. And not just that one a few months ago where Brewart deliberately stopped in his tracks to avoid following a line-breaking DCE. It fully looks as if they're heavily favouring a Foran + Brewart + Watmough/Burher combination before hitting the outside backs, just to push the point that they can still be successful without DCE being involved. Seems to me like they've given up hope and are now sulking off.

So far this year the Storm have lost..

Ryan Hoffman
Ben Roberts
Mitch Garbutt
Sisa Waqa
Tim Glasby
Junior Moors
Cody Walker

And are rumoured to be losing Ben Hampton as well, and they have only gained Marika Koroibete & Blake Green for next season, they must have a stack of cash laying around now.. Karmichael Hunt anyone?

Aside from Hoffman none of those players would have been on much. And even then I think Hoffman took a discount.

Storm have a distinct strategy of paying their big 3 big bucks and then playing moneyball with the rest of the squad. Considering they successfully re-signed Proctor too, I can't see them having too much to spend.

Agree with Ari. Most of those would have been on modest deals, and those that were in the top 25 will have to be replaced, so even on minimum contract the money left over would only go to the upgrade for Proctor, and whatever new contracts were negotiated for the Big 3, which, IIRC, Cronk's new deal would start next year??? Not sure about Slater, but Smith's starts 2016, right?

They've upgraded a few others players this season. Bromwich got a new deal

Smith's new deal starts in 2015.

Ricky is now after Brett Stewart

I'm sure someone has mentioned it, but I find it interesting that Ricky is after Hook. The grand plan seems to me that Hook is a bait for Hunt and McGuire to go to Canberra too. Nice try Ricky...

Maybe he thinks his job is in danger and he wants to bring in Hook in to show Furner how incompetent his replacement would be?

If that was his angle, he'd be offering Kearney $1m a season.

Ben Hampton 2 year deal at Storm. Good signing.

He seems quite a talent.

How lucky he is to serve an apprenticeship alongside Smith/Cronk/Slater.
