I'm interested to see how good Taylor is, he coached the bunnies(at least I think it was them) for a few games a few seasons back and everyone thought he was the second coming, and hasn't been able to score a gig since.

So I guess the time has come to see what he's made of.

He coached the bunnies for nearly three years but that came to an end when Davis Faálogo decked him and the end of year celebrations

wow was it a few seasons? I thought it was only half a season through a transition period. seem to recall it was around 2006-2007?

i remember the the incident now though lol.

Yeah you are right with your timelines. He was meant to be the assistant at Souths in 2007 but whoever the head coach was then left so he got the head gig. I don't blame you for not realising he was there for that long, that was back in the days that Souths were irrelevant, you know, the good ol'days

Shouldn't this be in the "Tigers coach" thread?

Seriously speaking it's good too see Taylor get another coaching gig, he laid the platform at Souths and made a good contribution to the Roosters coaching team.

Canterbury have pulled off a stunning grand final week coup with three of the game’s rising stars - Newcastle brothers Sione, Chanel and Pat Mata’utia - agreeing to long-term deals with the Bulldogs.

Wow, those are some massive signings for the Bulldogs for 2016.

1. Sione Mata'utia
2. Pat Mata'utia
3. Josh Morris
4. Tim Lafai
5. Chanel Mata'utia
6. Josh Reynolds
7. Trent Hodkinson

Imagine if all 3 of the brothers turn out to the superstars people predicted they would be.

Woah! That is huge. Wasn't there articles only a little while ago out of newcastle that they were locking them up etc etc. What are Newcastle thinking letting them go?!? Amazing

Thats devastating for Newcastle but a great bit of business by the Dogs.

i'm sure we will have rumours all the way through til round 13 2015 whether they are honoring the Dogs deal or backing out.

Especially when they are already in need of a full back.

Yeah, the Knights have released a statement saying that negotiations are ongoing and they expect to hang onto them.

Could just be a ploy to get more money out of the Knights.

CANTERBURY have pulled off a stunning grand final week coup with three of the game’s rising stars — Newcastle brothers Sione, Chanel and Pat Mata’utia — agreeing to long-term deals with the Bulldogs.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal the highly sought-after brothers have signed lucrative four-year deals with the NRL grand finalists starting in 2016 after their current Knights contracts expire.

It is understood a heads of agreement document to that effect has already been lodged with the NRL.

But on Monday night, a fuming Knights CEO Matt Gidley claimed all three brothers have told him they want to stay in Newcastle and he remains confident of extending their existing contracts.

Under current NRL rules, the Knights have until round 13 next year to change the brothers’ minds.

“The boys have told me they want to stay,” Gidley said.

“We will have a deal done with the boys and registered (with the NRL) shortly.”

Gidley would not comment further but a club source described negotiations between the brothers’ manager Chris Haddad and the Knights as “frustrating”.

He also hinted at friction between the manager and the brothers.

“The Knights agreed to the manager’s terms weeks ago but for whatever reason, a deal wasn’t done and now it’s come to this,” the source said.

The brothers are among the game’s best young talents with Sione, 18, and Chanel, 22, making their NRL debuts this season and Pat, 20, considered a future top grade player.

They have been shopped around as a package deal.

Chanel and Pat both played in the Knights’ NSW Cup grand final side on Sunday in their loss to Penrith.

Sione continued his meteoric side on Monday when he was named in the Prime Minister’s XIII to meet the PNG Kumuls on Sunday week.

Before he had even debuted for the Knights in the NRL, Wayne Bennett lavished him with praise, declaring he would be a “future Knights great and a great of the game”.

He played the final seven games of the season in the top grade crossing for seven tries.

Well, that should keep the sports tabloids busy until round 13 next year...
