I don't even want him for his creativity, just to skittle the defenders on the edges. It sucks not having a 'skittler' in the team. Unfortunately Big Dave is like Sandow in that he wants to do the fun stuff, but not the tough stuff.

It's an odd signing for them IMO. Obviously he is a top player but raiders are like us in the way that backrowers are the last thing they should be spending big money on

That's the rumour. Like you say it's been floating for a few months now and "apparently" Manly haven't offered much and in typical Sticky fashion, he's blown their offer out of the water so Gstew is interested and negotiations are taking place.

I don't think the Raiders are ever a chance of signing somebody for small money. I seem to recall that Canberra almost always have to pay overs, largely because they need to pay an incentive to get people to actually live in Canberra (I'm not joking!). They almost solely rely on junior development and frankly I cannot remember them making any notable signings in recent times.

Their recruitment almost exclusively consists of rejects or journeymen (this year's signings include Lagi Setu and Kurt Baptiste) and other than Blake Ferguson I cannot remember them signing anyone in the prime of their careers in recent years. For them G-Stew is probably as good a signing as it gets.

Has anyone seen that? I wonder who the coach could be..

I think it comes down to Bellamy, Toovey, Bennett, Hasler & Cleary if it is true.

I can't think of many other highly rated coaches in the NRL unless you want to count Cartwright also.

Isn't that supposedly a faction at Manly between the Stewart Brothers and DCE? Depending on if Toovey has a preference it could well be him. He's off contract at year's end and Manly's board have been in the news for all the wrong reasons for a while now. The stars could easily be the Sisters Stewart. I'm just connecting some dots though, it really could be anyone. I mean, if I were Cleary I'd be pretty annoyed at having Wallace thrust upon me.
