Its an interesting one. He may be there for 2023, but I'd say he will sign elsewhere come Nov 1 this year.
Then it could be a case of too much noise around etc, and he seeks an early release/Warriors see it as a distraction.
Who knows how it'll play out but, I like that he has come out and said he will be at the Warriors in 2023.

The best news to come out of this imo is that Isaako is a red-hot chance of stinking it up at fullback for the Dolphins in their maiden year.

Reece Walsh:

“I’m going to New Zealand next year. My manager and I haven’t even discussed other options because we’ve always known that is the case,” “When I first signed with the Warriors it was really before COVID hit, so I thought I was going to New Zealand straight away.

“It’s only because of COVID that we stayed in Australia for so long.” “Going to NZ is always going to be a challenge and I’m looking at it like that,” he said. “It’s a growth opportunity for sure.”

“At first I sort of laughed about it and would ask the boys, where do you think they get this information from because it definitely isn’t coming from me or my management or my family,”. “After a while it became too much, there were questions from my teammates. “It’s got to the point where it’s worth addressing because it’s spiralling out of control.

“It’s not fair on my teammates or the club that they think I am wanting to go elsewhere. It’s not the case – we haven’t spoken to any other clubs, I have a contract in place which means I am 100% going to New Zealand next year.”

His manager:
“Reece is a great up and coming young player and all good young players will draw media attention, but that’s all it is, just media attention. There has been no discussions with other clubs regarding Reece leaving the Warriors,” Dawson said.

“Currently Reece is on contract, he’s happy and he’s just wanting to focus on playing the best football he can for the Warriors.” “When the time is right, we’ll consider all options,” he said.

Interesting wording no?

I think what's most interesting with it is that the Dolphins will need to have someone signed for 2023... so if Walsh does become available for 2024 it opens it back up for us, as Dolphins will have to spend 95% of their cap for the inaugural year.

I think if Walsh became available for next year it would be a one horse race as Dolphins basically have a full cap to spend whereas we would need to move things around.

If Walsh is off the market till 2024, suddenly dolphins have to make plans and cap room for Munster and Walsh... if they want them both.

I think they can afford them both tbh, but its going to be at the expense of probably a 9 and 7. Katoa is a promising 7 and Graham looks good for their 9 but its a risk. I've been saying it for a while, but i think their strategy maybe to sign players on one year deals and go hard for 2024 when the market is better.

It's all going to be about timing and how well they negotiate contracts for 2023.

They can definitely afford Munster and Walsh, but they'll need to work the contracts to have about $1.5m spare for those two in their 2nd year.

SOS can come in and do a role on the cheap, which is fine... although they'll need a longer term plan for 7.

I'm not sure Munster with kids at 7 and 9 is all that great though, considering Walsh is pretty young as well (would have 3yr under his belt by 2024 though).

If player managers are smart they're not just going in there with their clients looking for 12 month deals and knowing they'll be out the door by 2024.

Milf might take a 12 month deal, but he might also want more security and looking for a 2-3yr deal.

Things become more complicated when you're basically setting up for a stopgap squad in 2023.

It would've been much simpler if they had Walsh lined up for 2023 and then just had to find space for Munster.... whereas now they might have to negotiate 2 big deals and having no headliners for 2023.

Kodi to sign with Souths apparently.

seems like a bad decision to me.

he won't beat out Walker
I doubt they dump Ilias (since they've gone all in on him as their future)
he wouldn't beat out cook, nor does he want to play hooker

He'll be 14 and he'll (have to) like it.

Surely Wayne will get him for next year.

That tweet doesn't say he is signing with the Bunnies this year. he may be, but he's also off contract so it could just be his club from next year

Another one out there says immediate release.

Fox Sports are reporting that Luke Garner has signed a 2 year contract with the Panthers from next season to replace Kikau.

the report is Garner will be taking a pay cut on his current 375K a season Tigers contract

Salary cap working as intended. Successful teams pilfering the best players of the lowly teams for less money.

I've never been a fan of the idea but maybe it is time for a draft after all.
