I thought the whole return to QLD thing was more to do with being closer to family? Meaning titans, dolphins or us.

Hunt has recently all but ruled out the Titans (he doesn't think they can afford him under the salary cap)

We've ruled out going after him

Therefore The Phins are the last team standing

He's from Central Queensland area and I think he's good mates with Granville and those kind of guys.

I don't think he's SEQ through and through, so It depends where his family actually is nowadays.

Bulldogs have emerged as favourites to sign Twal.

Mo Fotu extends at Titans until 2027 😲😲

Mo is a great extension for Titans, but they now have soooo much money invested in their forward pack.

I'm happy he didn't end up chasing dollars at a Sydney club.

I could only imagine @The Don would be in delirium seeing Mo extend

8. Mo
9. Verrills
10. Tino
11. Fifita
12. Fermor
13. Palasia

That is an amazing starting pack, they will need to figure out how to fit their 800 fullbacks into other backline positions.

Maybe something like:
1. Campbell
2. Sami
3. Kelly
4. Brimson
5. Khan-Pereira
6. Foran
7. Weaver

If they can keep this side together and fill in a couple of those backline positions, they could become pretty good.

5/8 and fullback will be the questions moving forward.

I believe Brimson is one of their highest paid players, so he cant be staying at centre.

Does he get moved to 6 when Foran moves on... and will it work this time around with Campbell there.

Will be interesting to see which way Hasler goes moving forward

Might be in the minority but I don't really rate Brimson. Good but not great and I think he's hit his ceiling. I would consider moving him on depending on the $$$ he's on (@The Don) ?

Unless he's happy to be a utility...

Apparently, according to ZeroTackle, Jason Taylor will come on as Ciraldo's assistant coach.

If you have a totally fractured club, which the Dogs certainly are, is that the bloke you really want to be bringing on board?

Taylor has been a good assistant coach in the past. He is not meant for head coaching but he can always be a good second I think.

You want him to get into fights with your players?

After initially informing Twal that he wasn't part of the clubs plans for next season ... Benji and the Tigers have backflipped, telling him he is in fact wanted for next year.

although, the reality is that Twal isn't actually wanted, the Tigers just don't want to carry any of his reported $525k salary on their cap for next year, so will keep him for another 12 months

I'm happy to see the Tigers come to their senses. They're going into next season with a rookie coach and half a squad made up of players who haven't even played 10 NRL games. They need all the experience they can get to ease their younger players into first grade.

Still, it doesn't send the best message to Twal or the playing group. He's one of the few Tigers players to have racked up a 100+ games for the club, his form has never wavered and yet they're contemplating letting him go.

If you're trying to build a culture and evoke some pride I can't see how sacking a fan favourite is the play.

Alex Twal has now re-signed with the Tigers for 3 years taking a pay cut in the process. his new deal is worth $400k per season, down from $525k per season.

Jahream Bula has also re-signed with the Tigers until the end of 2027. Bula wanted a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if the Tigers missed the finals in the next 3 years. the Tigers have rejected this clause and instead made the 2027 season a mutual option. If Bula takes the option he is guaranteed $800k for 2027, if the club takes up the option he is guaranteed $900k. the 4 year deal is reportedly worth about $2.7 million to $2.8 million over the 4 years.

It still amazes me how clubs are willing to pay players such big money on the back of just one decent year.
