NRL Players and family members in hot water

I'm still well within my rights to hate any player who puts unknown drugs in their body.

Or who plays for the Sharks.

Would put the NRL in difficult position to have a large portion of one team suspended for any length of time.

The NRL shouldn't pussy out on punishing illegal activity because it might suck short term. Salary cap cheating is still rife because they were scared to punish some of the games best players. What a message of strength that would send - don't care who you are, do the wrong thing and you're fucked. If the Sharks had to scrape together a team from park footballers then guess what - sucks to be the sharks.

None, not one of you knows a fucking thing about what went on yet you're all so strident in your views. .

I didn't need to be there to know what went on ... because ...

THEY PLEAD GUILTY FFS

In other words they eventually admitted to wrong doing

True in a sense, they did indeed plead guilty to UNKNOWINGLY doing wrong and that was the view of both the NRL who had an interest in the consequences and ASADA ,who did not. Foordy, I really don't know what your point is though, we all know they were charged and found guilty and we all know how they pleaded.

I've never disputed any of that. My comments have been primarily about the differing penalties handed out and the fact that we don't know all the facts especially in Earls case. What has been in the media is that Earl KNOWINGLY used ped's ,sold and distributed ped's . To whom he sold them is unknown to me and if he refused to name names ( IF ) then perhaps that may be why he was given a heavier sentence. Reading between the lines and purely conjecture on my part but I don't think he has been a beacon of integrity and poorly treated as a result.

The Sandor Earl interview with Denan Kemp reveals some very interesting things about how Dank operated with the clubs and what happened and how the NRL have dealt with some of it.

Sandor Earl got fucked.

Maybe........but he also cheated himself, his club, the fans and the game.

Can't do the time, don't do the crime.

in case you missed it the anti-doping rules don't differentiate between whether you know or not ... as far as the rules are concerned it is all the same penalties.

It wouldn't be retributive at all. What Earl did was more serious than what the Sharks players did, hence the punitive punishment.

I'm glad the Sharks situation didn't become the new precedent and don't believe in mandatory sentencing.

I didn't know. I'm in the 5% apparently. Your post is evidence that you cannot reason capably. You make totally insane claims based on emotion and prejudice. If 95% of league fans knew I ask ,how did they know? Was it published, was there video, public admissions, police charges and court documents ? When did you 'know' ? You see , when you claim to 'know' something you would have evidence and according to you 95% of rugby league fans had evidence. What crap.

Maybe if you went into Fanny's Nightclub in Newcastle (Now called The Argyle House), you would have seen things. Not just Joey. :tape:

They only time I have been to Newcastle was for Broncos games there.

I am willing to bet it happened at other pub, clubs etc at different locations.

So you haven't watched Earl's interview? He didn't distribute or sell, he just transported it from one location to another - from the supplier to the person who would administer it. He got jipped because that is considered trafficking, as it's been used as a loophole in the past to get people off genuine trafficking charges.

Also, he claims that he did not know they were illegal. Be careful here, if you're going to say that the clandestine nature of his actions suggest he knew it was illegal, then what do you make of the fact that the Sharks players were told not to tell anyone about their "supplements"?

Serious ? You're not suggesting we take Earls word for it but reject the Sharks claim they didn't know ! Can't have it both ways I'm afraid. I actually don't know what the Sharks said to investigators nor do I know what Earl said or claimed. I do know that both parties were interviewed and two bodies investigated all the available evidence. Like I wrote earlier, it's over and any anger should be directed at those that decided the penalties.

I also don't know for a fact that the Sharks were told not to tell anyone. Perhaps they were, I just don't know that. I didn't read every thing written about them as I know for a fact that we are often spoon fed information that suits and frequently relevant facts are conveniently left out or deliberately omitted because they don't suit the writers view.

On on the face of it ,it does appear Earl has been harshly treated but he has the right to have these things appealed or revisited . I think if I knew everything there is to know I could form a reasoned view and I think that's true for most of us.

What we all should remember though is that these events occurred four years ago, they have been dealt with by an independent body, ASADA and that there are only three players from that time still in the NRL. It's not a whole team or a big number.

No BP , I haven't and why would I ? Also ,why would you ask ? Nothing I wrote would indicate that I'd seen it or even knew what was in it. This is the same thing with you isn't it ? I write easy to understand words down, you misconstrue trying to be clever. So, to save you a bullshit follow up question I'll explain why it's the best report. It was compiled after interviews with all the available parties, it was by an independent organisation and it was under the watchful eye of the media and public alike. In all probability it was quite extensive and ASADA had greater resources and legal standing above any other organisation. Good enough to be considered the best report?
