NRL Players and family members in hot water

Lol what an idiot.

POWERHOUSE Parramatta forward Junior Paulo is in hot water after breaching his NRL contract by playing a game of park rugby union.

Inquiries from The Daily Telegraph prompted Parramatta to investigate Paulo after the Eels giant played a third grade rugby union match for the Oatley Rugby Club on April 30, less than 24 hours after an Eels match.

In a code-hopping act of stupidity, Paulo donned headgear to conceal his identity and risked injury by taking to the field for the final 20 minutes of Oatley’s 17-10 win over Beecroft at HV Evatt Park at Oatley.

It is understood Paulo signed in on the team sheet under the name of a registered Oatley player before the “Ladies Day’’ match.

His rugby cameo came a day after he played 44 minutes, had 13 runs for 131m and made 16 tackles in Parramatta’s 20-12 win over Canterbury.

Paulo, who has signed a massive two-year deal to play with the Canberra Raiders from next season, has breached several clauses in his NRL contract.

The Eels confirmed they had launched their own investigation into the matter and had informed the NRL.

Paulo and the Eels both declined to comment officially, but it is understood the 22-year-old has admitted taking part in the match during an internal probe “as a favour to his brother-in-law”.

Hendry Lees, Paulo’s brother in law, coaches third grade in the Campbell Cup.

The Oatley Rugby Club could be fined, stripped of points and even kicked out of the competition as a result of allowing Paulo to play.

“He certainly took the field,’’ a Beecroft official, who asked to remain anonymous, said. “They are a team known for stacking but to play a first grade rugby league player is just ridiculous.’’

Oatley club president Richard Rice confirmed Paulo played in the match.

“He is related to the coach,’’ Rice said. “I believe Junior is the coach’s brother in-law. And he was there to support the team and run water for them.’’

Rice said the club did not condone Lees’ actions and he would launch an internal investigation.

“We certainly do not want this sort of thing happening,’’ Rice said.

“And there will be serious consequences for the club if this is the case. It is what It is and I’m not sure how they expected to get away with it or why they did it. It is certainly going to be heavily frowned upon by both this club and the NSW Rugby Union.’’

Paulo played for Samoa in last Saturday’s 18-6 win over Tonga in the Pacific Test match. Despite breaching his playing contract, the NRL said it would not look to sanction Paulo.

“The club is dealing with the matter,” an NRL spokesman said.

A way of getting released to the Raiders early? As if he didn't think he'd get caught.

Haha more amateur-hour from someone in the NRL.

Can you imagine the poor bastards trying to tackle him as a sub in during the last 20min?

it was also stupid of that union club to get him to play, considering the potential penalties

Parramatta Eels five-eighth Corey Norman has been linked to a pills investigation at The Star casino on Friday night.
The NRL integrity unit has been made aware of the incident which occurred around 11pm on Friday night.
Channel Seven reported a group of men were stopped during a routine medical detector search when a 25-year-old male was found in a possession of a container with unidentified pills.
Norman was with a group of friends and it is believed he was not in possession of the capsules but is part of the police investigation.
Police officers spoke to the 25-year-old man at The Star for over an hour, Channel Seven reported.
Norman has yet to be interviewed by police but are expected to call the Eels five-eighth in for question.
Officers are looking at CCTV footage of the incident and the pills have been sent for forensic investigation.
Norman will still line up for the Eels against Melbourne at Pirtek Stadium on Monday night.

Parramatta Eels pivot Corey Norman linked to pills investigation at Star casino

Slow news day, they were found on someone he was with.

So Norman had dinner with some ex-bikies and known criminals. Depending on who's reporting, it sounds like the "capsules" were found on Norman, but a mate claimed they were his. However the police have not confirmed any of this, so it's just speculation at this point.

So the question needs to be asked, why is Norman having dinner with ex-bikies and known criminals?

EELS star Corey Norman reportedly dined with a former senior Nomad bikie and an accused criminal before he was allegedly caught in possession of unknown pills at the Star Casino on Friday night.

Parramatta teammate Junior Paulo posted a picture of the dinner on Instagram on Friday night, while Panthers hooker James Segeyaro was also in attendance with former senior Nomad boss Paulie Younan and accused fraudster and money launderer Rafat Alameddine, according to Fairfax Media.
Alameddine’s brother, Talal, is currently locked up in Goulburn Supermax after being charged with supplying the gun used to murder accountant Curtis Cheng outside the NSW Police building last October.
Rafat is also currently on bail after being charged with million-dollar fraud offences.
Meanwhile, Younan is a former senior Nomad bikie boss, who has previously spent time in prison for an alleged kidnapping before charges were dropped.
It is unknown whether either Paulo or Segeyaro were still with Norman and his group when capsules were allegedly seized outside the casino later that night.
Separate reports from The Daily Telegraph allege that several capsules were found in a small container on Norman before a friend claimed they were his.
“Any information that is not in the police media report should be deemed incorrect at this stage,” Norman’s manager Paul Sutton told The Daily Telegraph.
Paulo removed the photo of the dinner from social media on Sunday night.

Norman was with a group of men who were stopped outside the entrance of the casino for a security check late on Friday night.
Police said several capsules in a small container were allegedly found by security staff on a 25-year-old man.
“Shortly before 11pm on Friday 20 May 2016, a 25-year-old man was searched by security officers as he entered a venue on Pyrmont Rd, Pyrmont,” said police in a statement.
“The man allegedly produced a small container holding several capsules. He was spoken to by security officers but was allowed to leave.
“Police were subsequently contacted and officers from Sydney City Local Area Command are continuing with their enquires into the matter.”
The capsules were sent for forensic analysis and police were reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.
Norman was at Eels training on Sunday ahead of their clash with Melbourne on Monday night when Parramatta resume their quest to overcome the loss of 12 competition points due to salary cap breaches and claim an unlikely finals berth.
The NRL integrity unit has been made aware of the incident which comes at a time when Norman is in contract negotiations with the Eels and reportedly seeking $850,000 a season.

Am I missing something? What a dumbass. Who the **** lets a security guard search them?

Says "a security check", so I don't think it was a random bouncer. I know these places look like they're easy to get in to, with little in the way of scrutiny from security, but there are metal detectors and body scanners at every entrance, you just can't see them.

The interesting thing is, normally carrying yourself in such company would get you a free pass - organised crime's tentacles are everywhere, and casinos make a mint on money laundering. My guess is a rookie security officer is going to get fired over this.
