I think training in a camp environment will be great for a squad like Melbourne who can use it to galvanise themselves. They'll be living and breathing nothing but footy and that's a scary prospect for opposition teams.

Realistically, the way Bryce Cartwright tackles, he'd be outside the 1.5 metres anyway so he'd hardly be a risk to others.

it's all about covering their ass in regards to the health and safety of players ... i.e. someone gets the flu, which potentially weakens their immune systems, and then they are either more susceptible to getting COVID-19 (or the effects of COVID-19 are far worse if you have the flu)

they're not trying to imitate Trump, by thinking the flu shot will stop COVID-19

Just to add to that point, by getting the flu shot you're protecting yourself from getting the actual flu, the symptoms of which would give cause to need to self isolate and quarantine and require testing for both yourself and anyone you come into contact with, which would include your teammates etc and could derail the whole competition depending on the timing. Basically there couldn't be a worse time or circumstance in which to contract the flu with so much at stake.

Not sure where to put this but hugh marks (channel 9 ceo) says they will LOSE MONEY of the NRL season goes ahead and they are not sure if they want it in the future.

For me, that highlights channel 9 incompetence. Losing money from the HIGHEST RATING PRODUCT ON TV when you pay less then what channel 7 does for the afl to host MORE games (increasing production costs) tells me, and anyone using their brain, that the management at channel 9 is hopeless and does not know how to budget. Maybe it should consider talking up it's number 1 product. Its news and reality crap will also suffer if they lose nrl but they are too stupid to see this.

I get they are talking the NRL down to try to get a better price in negotiations but they are surely prodding the NRL too much. Their incompetence over the past 10 years has also surely done them no favours.

As I wrote this a story on ABC popped up about Foxtel depending on the NRL re-starting to survive. Let's also hope they return the favour. I get people are talking the next tv deal down but the afl deserve a downgrade well before us. Despite the constant onslaught on us in QLD and nsw about how great afl is for about 10 years with 100's millions of $s invested the ratings in nsw and qld have still not picked up and it gets outrated by playschool and antiques roadshow. NRL has 4/5-6 top rated shows EVERY YEAR, has the best overall ratings, has room to add 1-2 more teams that will add (not subtract like gws and the suns) viewers, have diversified their product much better with other opportunities for 500,000+ viewers per new products (9s, women's (particularly origin), internationals are now high raters) And have greater potential for making changes to add tv advertising space (5 mins drinks break, ads in scrum time). The ineptitude of channel 9 should not AGAIN make the NRL undervalued itself despite the current economic outlook...
