Paul White Broncos members announcement:
It is with a heavy heart that I write to you today in the wake of the decision to suspend the 2020 NRL Premiership due to the coronavirus pandemic, until such time as it is deemed medically safe to recommence.
As a club, we fully support the NRL’s decision which is based on public health advice and is for the greater good of the wider Australian community.
But that doesn’t make the hurt any less.
We know how much you love your footy and how much you love the Broncos – your club, our club.
The support you have shown during the increasingly difficult times in recent weeks has been incredible.
The players drew inspiration from that loyal Bronxnation support and passion to begin the season with two great performances and wins over the Cowboys and Rabbitohs.
Whilst we now have a firm decision on the suspension of games, at this stage there are still many unknowns in relation to the 2020 season. The NRL have provided a number of scenarios that we are factoring into our planning.
The NRL is working with broadcasters, sponsors, players and all 16 clubs to find a way forward – but there is a strong intent to play more rugby league at some stage in 2020.
Once we receive more information, we will communicate promptly and directly with you – our valued members.
In the meantime, our club will do all it can to make sure we are in the best position to move forward once the threat of COVID-19 has passed.
Every part of our community is hurting at this time, and the Broncos is no different.
Our club, and rugby league, is in a fight for survival – there is no sugar-coating it – and as a business we face some hard decisions in the coming days and weeks.
But we draw strength from the support of our members and the passion we all share for the Broncos.
On behalf of everyone at our club, I would like to thank you for your continued support and patience.
Our overriding concern is always the health and safety of our players, staff, members, supporters and the community.
We urge you to continue to follow the government’s advice to minimise the impact of this global pandemic.
We wish you, your family and friends, and everyone in the Bronxnation community continued safety and good health.
