Broncos Welcome New Kiwi Rugby Stars As Preseason Begins

The Brisbane Broncos are proud to announce the signing of rugby union converts Azalleyah Maaka and Kerri Johnson, on the eve of the NRLW preseason kick off.

It looks like Ciesiolka will miss a few games to start the season.

From NRL Physio:

Unfortunate news for Shenae Ciesiolka with scans revealing a grade 3 MCL injury (ligament rupture) out of Origin 3.

Good news is the MCL generally has great healing prospects & often doesn’t require surgery - usual return to play range of 2-3 months (NRLW kicks off in 5 weeks).

I’ve gotten rid of all my socials so I don’t see his updates, any word on Upton and Brill?

Brill broken ribs. 3-6 week recovery so she should be fine.

Upton he hasn't shared anything about but from the reports I could find she suffered a glute injury and Maddick was called in to the QLD squad because she couldn't overcome it in time so it sounds like she'll be all good for the opening game, as well.

Maddick To Stay On The Paddock In '26

Hayley Maddick has extended her contract with the Broncos until the end of the 2026 season, saying she "couldn't imagine playing in any other colours."

I don’t really see where she plays unless she becomes the bench utility.

Yeah it’ll be interesting. We usually end up with an injury to a back during games, or at a pinch she can play in the halves as well if one of them go down mid-game and Adams isn’t there.

But we’ll be running a small bench if there’s both one of Ferguson/Brill and Maddick on there with any of Duzzi, Lafaele, McGrath-West etc for the two props.

She’ll be 34 by the end of next year. Likely her last contract by the way they wrote the article

A bit of a left field option, perhaps she will play in the halves with Ali playing that ball-playing lock role. IIRC, she can play at halfback. I could be thinking of someone else there.

I know the players didn't get any games to prepare in the lead-up to Origin but that series from Ali was concerning. I do wonder if Prince took notice of that and is thinking of using her differently.
 
Based on the photo and the fact that she's wearing the new '25 Broncos gear, I think we still have Keilee's sister on the books.

She was announced on the Development list with Montaya, Shalom and Reegan

Edit: whoops that was last year for 2024. Trying to find a deal length, but multi-years aren’t uncommon.

A lot of the contracts tables and player profiles are still incomplete, but she’s in the dev list still, and looks like Lavinia has been downgraded to a dev deal

It looks like they're doing tickets in the form of memberships for the games at Totally Workwear Stadium.

You can buy a one game membership that will get you a ticket for the game. Costs $12 for a GA ticket. $20 for reserved.


 
There’s still a missing link for the full season memberships that are advertised on the main NRLW memberships page. They’ll sell pretty quick, not sure why they’re doing single game reserved seating before those, if they end up doing them at all

Dam Deal Done For '26

Just six-months after re-signing with the Broncos, Lauren Dam has further extended her contract, keeping her in Brisbane until the end of the 2026 season.

So happy for Loz, met her after a game and she’s a lovely person. Been a fan of her’s for years
 
Is there a team list for the trial vs the Orchids? Not sure what who is playing.
