Official - Ivan Henjak Sacked

What about Langer? He's been assisting the coaches for long enough and he would certainly have the respect of the players.

Theres been things floating around for months, but i think this is an absolutely ridiculous decision, but it seems to have become clear Bruno Cullen was his only supporter.

I think Ivan Henjak has done quite a reasonable job with the teams which he has had at his disposal. Last years side is the youngest Bronco's side i can remember.

To sack him before the season kicks off is a disgraceful decision and will bring nothing but bad headlines and instability before the season is even underway.

I agree. Looking at the results, Henjak hasn't done that bad a job. 2009 we made it to within one game of the final, 2010 we were looking like a big threat until Locky went down, leaving our very young squad exposed.

If it's true that the players are behind this, they have absolutely no excuse not to perform now.

I'm throwing all of my support behind Griffin. Lets go buddy! p7

Mate I really doubt that Henjak's sacking had much to do with his results over the last 2 years. IMO he's obviously upset someone who he shouldn't upset.

This is what I'm thinking.

Guess is as good as yours, but IMO obviously something went down - the timing is just way off. I'm on the "I wasn't sold on IH" wagon ... It is sad seeing him go like this, and the circumstances reek of a poorly run Sydney club - but at the end of the day, if the club didn't see him of any use this year... better now right? Also - whats the point of denying his sacking throughout the season? Furthermore if we started losing games, his 'sacking' would constantly be in the papers... perhaps confirming further that the plug should be pulled early.

Why Ivan Henjak had to go as Brisbane Broncos coach

A SCATHING in-house review, Ivan Henjak's prickly personality and a player revolt were behind the Broncos' blood-letting yesterday.

Club sources last night suggested a major fallout with club captain Darren Lockyer, criticism from other players and Henjak's inability to attract star recruits, including Test centre Greg Inglis, had contributed to his downfall.

Good to see Wayne write a letter to Karmichael congratulating on his debut AFL match.
Mabe Ivan should've done the same?

Totally agree - similar point I made earlier.

Highly unlikely this is about the teams performance.

There is definitely something else in play here.

Also, what's with the Henjak love?

Last years posts were full of "Sack Henjak" and now that he has been chopped it's all "Bad timing or Poor Henjak"

Bit hard to please eh?

I can only imagine what someone from the Broncos would think if they were reading the forums "Geez, you can't please the fans"

No matter what they did, there would be people here complaining about it

Complaining is what the Internet is all about. That and porn.

I'd say most people are just amazed that you'd sack a coach three weeks from the start of the season. I'm glad Henjak is gone but I'm amazed this had to happen now and not last year after the season.

I guess the players just had enough after the preseason.

this. I'm not shedding tears over Henjak's sacking, but if they were going to do it I would've preferred it Happen late last year. Something has gone down and agree with Fozz, I'd say it was a player decision

Ok, I've slept on it.

I'm going to trust the decision of Paul White. No club is dumb enough (not even the Knights) to sack a coach 3 weeks out from the season knowing they could have done it much earlier. There is OBVIOUSLY some shit that went down for this to happen. It appears as though the option was to sack Henjak or risk missing the 8 again. Looks like they've done the right thing.

I am however a bit annoyed at how Paul White has handled this situation. He's giving nothing away, he's very vague on everything. It's doing the club no favours.

Tend to agree. He could've said something without saying too much. For example, if it had been due to relationships with senior players, he could've simply said that there were some relationships within the club that were untenable and there was a concern that this would impact the stability of the club in 2011, hence both parties decided to split.

People would believe that. People might be suspicious about which relationships went wrong, and might speculate, but he'd have no obligation to say anything more than that.

To simply say "it's all facts are available and so we've made the decision"...that's not good enough. The club's shareholders and members deserve better than that.

Airing dirty laundry is from the Bruno school of management. We're past that. It did us absolutely no good.

Once again we're the Goldman Sachs of League. icon_thumbs_u

MMM radio in Sydney has reported that Bennett has agreed "in principle" to coach the Broncos in 2012

Who said we need to air the dirty laundry? Look what Coxy wrote. Perfect example of letting people know what happened without giving away every single nasty little detail.

Any criticism in this situation is dirty laundry. Best to shake hands, wish each other the best and part ways. Whether that's how they feel or not.

Where I work we get emails notifying us of resignations/people "moving on" and none of them contain any criticism toward the individual. It's not really anyone else's business. If people want to discuss and speculate outside of the official domain, then good luck to them but it will never come from senior management.

I've spent the past few years wishing that Bruno would just STFU. I don't mind the team working on a "need to know" basis.

We're a better team when we're an arrogant enigma - hence the Goldman Sachs comparison. (Not that I think White is being arrogant here.)

All due respect, but your company isn't one of the most popular and well known companies in Australia.

But, here's an exclusive photo of Ivan when he was told his services were no longer required:
