OFFICIAL - Lama Tasi to Salford via the Broncos

re: OFFICIAL - Lama Tasi to the Broncos

Totally missed it was mid season, absolutely no reason for Thaiday to play prop anymore or nuffies like Lui to play for the Broncos ever again.

re: OFFICIAL - Lama Tasi to the Broncos

Yay! Finally a decent signing. I don't know too much about Tasi except for that massive shot he put on Glenn last year ;). I'm pumped we finally got somebody, now let's hope there's more to come.

re: OFFICIAL - Lama Tasi to the Broncos

This makes more sense. The thought of gee doing anything proactive in regards to recruitment just doesn't add up

it is hard to say. it might be possible we'd made enquiries in previous weeks to no avail but it was only now that tasi saw the light, right before the deadline, and contacted us.

So we got a prop, 1/3rd of the way there. Now how about raiding the Raiders for one of their outside backs? Agree with Pigskin, Wighton is going to be a star. I'd probably prefer Edrick Lee though, just because he's roughly just as talented, but a QLDer.

Will hardly be a season saviour but hopefully he can shore up a pretty soft Bronco's pack. It is amazing how a discard from another club can get so many people excited. And those who are thinking that he will be slotted straight in the 17 vs Melb obviously haven't been paying attention. Hook is very loyal with his players and Tasi will only be used as a cover for injuries, he will eventually get a bench spot and possibly get a 5 min stint near the end of the match. I obviously would use him differently as I would chuck him into the fire ASAP. But Broncos mgmt. don't think that way, hence their shaky spot in the standings. Welcome to Brissy Lama.

re: OFFICIAL - Lama Tasi to the Broncos

I reckon we can make this thread title official now. It says he's signed with us for the rest of the season in the CM

Good signing ... i'm happy :thumbup1:

A good hardhitting big forward is just what we need.

Re: OFFICIAL - Lama Tasi to the Broncos

Hook better not have him playing qcup for the whole season. Seems to be the trend at the broncos for recruits.

Re: OFFICIAL - Lama Tasi to the Broncos

the broncs must of told him he'd be pretty quickly into the nrl side for him to make the move. after all that is the reason for it.

(unless he was forced out by salary cap issues but no point speculating on that one).

Says you.

How do you know that? Why would we sign him, literally within 24 hours of him contacting us, only to have him play Qcup? Tasi came to us so he can play first grade as he couldn't do that behind the Roosters pack, we didn't sign him just so he can play reserves here too.

Re: OFFICIAL - Lama Tasi to the Broncos

The suggestions that he will play q cup all year are ludicrous. He is currently only with us for the rest of the year obviously to give himself a chance to prove his worth and get an extended contract, how can he do that in q cup. Also why would he come here to play reserves when that is the reason he is leaving the roosters? He has clearly been bought because the penny has finally dropped that thaiday needs to be back in the second row.

Re: OFFICIAL - Lama Tasi to the Broncos

i think only signing for the remainder of the year was probably the quickest way to get him up here without fuss from the nrl/etc given june 30 was fast approaching.

they will lock him up pretty quickly for post 2013 provided he fits in and plays to a standard.

Re: OFFICIAL - Lama Tasi to the Broncos

The way I see it we should go like this.

8. Hannant
9. ...
10. McGuire/Tasi
11. Thaiday
12. Gillett
13. Parker

Glenn will share minutes with Thaiday and Gillett (Parker has to play 80).

Thaiday is our captain, Parker is one of the form forward in the competition and Gillett has been better than Glenn this year, so Glenn should be the one who gets benched, might send him a message that his spot in the starting side isn't guaranteed and he might even start performing like we know he can.

I think you're right. I don't think Tasi or the club wanted to sign a 2-3 year deal which they needed to sort out within 3 days. Signing for the rest of the year means the conditions of the contract didn't really matter (even $) as long as he plays first grade. Just like you I wouldn't be surprised if we see him extend his deal after a few weeks of playing in first grade, if he goes well.

He'll get to see if he likes playing for the Broncos, ditto the other way around and there's no rush/deadline that they have to sign before.

I for one hope he plays really well because we could really use a forward like him in our team.
