[Official] - Milford signs with Broncos

I know everyone thinks that he can't renege but I'm not real confident on that. According to the NRL the it's a rule not a clause so how can it be removed?

Also his parents have moved to canberra now, why would they move for one year?

Where there's smoke there is fire so I will certainly be preparing for a backflip.

Not a single quote in that article. I call bullshit.

I can't see him heading up here now. We have one of the most unstable clubs in the comp at the moment. There are too many whispers about in house disharmony.

Ask yourself, if you were Milford, would you really want to head up to Brisbane as we are right now.

I wouldn't.

We are no more unstable now than when Milford signed with us so at the moment i fully expect him to turn up here in Nov 2014.

We had our worst result since entering the comp with rumours about our coach being under pressure and still signed Milford. Nothing has changed since then.

If Griffin gets the sack, could that nullify any clauses put in or taken out?

I'd say Glenn, Gillett and Maranta all have clauses in their contracts saying if their dad gets the sack they can search for another club.

Hopefully Gee wasn't crazy enough to allow Milford to back out should Griffin be sacked.

Its probably more likely to have a clause allowing Milford to change his mind should Griffin still be here!

NO! Because then this will just get taken to another thread. Just change to title to "Will he stay or will he go?"

I haven't reported anything. It would be good if a thread could stay on topic most of the time.

Discussions tend to change depending on what is brought up. In this case it was Milford and a get out clause depending on whom the coach is. I made a joke about others in the club having a get out clause. I'm sorry.

This may be a complete load of crap and probably a little off-topic.

But I heard Campese was offered to the Broncos so they can keep Milford. Anyone else heard that?

Very much doubt that. Milford wants to move back to Brisbane and that is what is happening. Campese is gone. His knees are stuffed.

Would be like signing nobody at all. He'd rarely play a gam.

Canberra Raiders star Anthony Milford committed to Brisbane Broncos deal

ANTHONY Milford is committed to joining Brisbane with his management scuppering suggestions the Raiders young gun will renege on his deal with the Broncos.

Determined to avoid a fresh contractual saga, Milford said "nothing has changed" to an agreement that will see him play for Canberra this year before shifting to Brisbane in 2015.
Canberra coach Ricky Stuart is fighting hard to retain Milford and Brisbane's 48-4 mauling in New Zealand last Sunday only fuelled speculation the 20-year-old may backflip on his Brisbane deal.
But Milford gave no indication he is seeking to rescind his agreement with the Broncos.

The livewire utility briefly left Canberra in recent days to visit family and friends in Brisbane before flying home to the nation's capital on Tuesday night.
While the Queensland Origin hopeful pledged to give the Raiders his total commitment this season, he expressed surprise at rumours he will be a no-show at Red Hill.
"I've signed with the Broncos," he said.
"I haven't read the latest reports and I don't know who is putting out that stuff (that he will renege on his Broncos deal) ... but nothing has changed for me.
"I don't want any issues with the Raiders. I will give 100 per cent for them this year and do my best.
"I've enjoyed working with Ricky Stuart, he is upfront and honest, and my only focus now is playing for the Raiders for the rest of the year.
"I've had a good break, I'm looking forward to the new season." Under the NRL's contract-registration guidelines, players who sign with a rival club have until round 13 to change their mind and remain with their existing club.
Milford's Raiders teammate Josh Papalii, who backflipped on a deal with Parramatta, is a prime example, while Luke Lewis reneged on a handshake deal with Souths in 2008.

The Raiders are doing everything possible to placate a player Stuart rates a genuine superstar. Milford's parents, Halo and Marietta, were recently relocated to an apartment complex in the Canberra suburb of Gungahlin, but sources close to the attacking whiz claim the couple will move back to their Brisbane family home at season's end.
Milford's manager Sam Ayoub said he had removed any "cooling-off" conditions to eliminate any confusion over the Samoan World Cup star's future with the Broncos.

"Anthony will honour his deal with Canberra and then join the Broncos," Ayoub said.
"Suggestions Anthony (will renege on his Broncos deal) are blatantly wrong.
"Because of one poor trial result, all of a sudden Anthony wants to backflip? It's embarrassing that there has to be constant speculation over Anthony.
"In relation to Anthony's parents, they haven't moved full-time to Canberra their permanent home remains in Brisbane.
"The Raiders are aware of Anthony's family situation, they know how he feels, they are content with the fact he is staying to honour his final year and then Anthony will move forward."

That's all she wrote.
