you could probably insert a clause into the contract that states that it is legally binding as soon as it is signed with no cooling off period and regardless of whether the nrl registers it or not. therefore the nrl would say he can reneg but it would be illegal for him to do so.

Milford backing out would be a tremendous blow to our future plans. I'm betting the club has bet everything on him solving our halves issues. If he goes, we literally have nothing for the next 3 years.

Sad, but very true. Quite unsettling to think all our eggs (to date) are, yet again, in the 'manufacture a player out of position' basket (case). Don't get me wrong, awesome that we bought Milford, and Barba, but this isn't the NRL 13's fullback edition comp. I really hope one of the two can make it in the halves, but as we have all seen, both players are best as custodians...

The halves is milfords position. He is out of position playing fullback. And by all accounts was very good in the halves at nrl level

When he debuted for the Raiders there he wasn't crash hot, tried to run too much instead of looking at what was on. Currently fullback suits him best, great for learning and able to inject himself whenever he wants rather than being expected to run the show.

He should make a good half for you guys, good runner, passing and kicking but you really need to find an organising kind of player either to partner him or play hooker, someone with a cool calculated head to balance his ad lib style.

Milford did quite well in his first game in the halves. I don't know what game you were watching Bushman, but what I saw was a bloke that troubled the defense with his runs, scored a try, set up a try and had a pretty decent kicking game.

I think the fact we'll play Milford as a half is such a big reason why Cam Smith will be great for us. He can pick up some of the playmaking slack and his vision from hooker will no doubt help everyone on the team.

sorry but we need to bring the dislike button back for that statement. Hunts playmaking skills seemed to involve only 1 move. when he played in the halves at NRL level he was ordinary (and that is being generous). and with this long out of the game, i hope we don't go near him as a half (or full back either for that matter, given we now have Barba and Milford for 2015) ... especially given what his price tag will be.

He was pretty ordinary in the halves, but that's not the point. He was still a much better ball player than Milford is now.

Milford is a ball runner first and foremost. He's very similar to Barba in that he uses his running game to create opportunities. It suits fullback a lot more, since defence can't shift as well on the edges and the bigger gaps give numbers a much bigger advantage.

He's nowhere near a real playmaking half though.

Hunt would provide some much needed experience. His kicking & passing game is also a lot better.

Some people really need to revisit their Khunt's memory, because he IS NOT a playmaker and has never been one. His best asset was his running game too!

As to Milford, he has played most of his life in the halves, and just because he has a fantastic running game, it doesn't at all mean his passing and kicking isn't up to par. Milford seriously poo's all over Khunt in pretty much every department!
