Our new halfback should be

Getting rid of Milford is farkin ridiculous.

- He's getting targeted heavily by other teams

Halves as they progress gets targeted heavily by other teams, you don't think opposition coaches had big forwards run at Langer early in his career?

- He's getting shit service from dummy half

And if that is true then so has Hunt but he has been improving from his 2016 season, yet that aside McCullough has been outstanding defensively and when he has run the ball this season has made some serious metres. Milford has had some good touches here and there, but really his start to 2017 has been sub par at best with a serious lack of him using his running game, being biggest asset and defensively a real concern. On the plus side it's early in the season and he can still come good.

- He's 22....and still figuring this shit out.

With 4 solid seasons under his belt, 100 nrl games his hardly an inexperienced rookie starting to make a name for himself, come contract time when he gets a sizable upgrade expectations for what he delivers will be much higher.

Got no problem signing Cronk, just got to convince him Sydney isn't the place to be.

Oh right, yeah I just read an article about it after reading your post. I can't believe he is actually leaving the Storm... and for a skirt. But on the other hand, hooray! The Storm is weakening.. When's Cam done?

Yes of course......Langer was also playing behind a vastly superior forward pack for the majority of his career, compared to what Milford is.

If
we're comparing Milford to Langer.

He's had two full years at 5/8. How did Locky go when he was first moved into the no.6...??

Geez....now we're comparing him to Locky. Kid has a lot of expectation riding on his shoulders....doesn't he?

IMO...he's too classy not to come good. Some people just have to be patient and show a little faith.

Patient?!? What do you mean patient? We have played 5 rounds and don't look like premiers, the sky is falling!!!!

Langer was also being targeted by some of the best forwards in the game's history and played in State of Origin against the best barely into his career with many doubters including team mates believing he could even handle it especially defensively. Halves will always be targeted in the line regardless of the side they are in or the forward pack they play behind and I have seen better defending halves behind far worse forward packs then our present pack.

I don't recall making the comparison but if we must go here, Lockyer was also a 5/8th converted to fullback when he went from being an up and coming 5/8th player playing the odd game where and when needed to finally became a regular full time first grader at the Broncos in 1997, Lockyer adjusted to it and didn't look back and he certainly didn't have two full seasons worth of first grade experience prior to him to making the adjustment. I'm hardly surprised come later in his career it would take him time to adapt back to 5/8th when the majority of your senior career has been spent at fullback.

My concern for Milford is that come contract time the expectations will be much higher, with Hunt's departure the club will be even more determined to retain him and with that comes a sizable increase in the contract amount He isn't the rookie any longer that people are making him out to be and will be even more important in the spine then he currently is. When the Broncos brought Walters to the club as a long term replacement for Lewis, the expectations of Langer's importance in the side didn't just stop suddenly they only grew, with age and experience comes expectations of your performance in first grade to grow you can't avoid it.

Does he have the ability and time to turn it around? Sure, but I'd rather do what we can to help Milford address the issue right now to put him in the best possible position to be ready for the task then just believe in blind faith it will just come good.

Williams could come over and shine like raiders hooker or could be a bust like Tomkins.

With all due respect Josh Hodgson was a poor player in SL. He was somebody that never stood out over here. Same with Mike Cooper. I was very surprised they made a name for themselves in the NRL. George Williiams is different to Sam he can bust tackles and his Brain is first class for rugby league

Lurker reckons that Maloney may ask for a release from the final year of his Sharks contract because he thinks he's underpaid and the Sharks don't have the cap room to upgrade him.

Wasn't he one of the two players that Chris Garry mentioned yesterday in relation to players we want to pair with Milford?

The Sharks may do it as well, if they want to move Bird into 5/8

yeah, I read that.

If Maloney was available, I would take him in an instant. he is a winner, he has improved every single side he has played for - warriors, roosters, sharks. He may be a 5/8th but he would have no problems switching into halfback, i've seen him organise for all three teams he's played for. he is a gun.

We could make a run next year as well I feel. I would be all for Maloney.

I think Maloney could be a good option ... but i'm not sure he is a "franchise" player like Chris Garry was talking about in his article

I would be very happy with Maloney.
