I disagree. I think he is a centre. If we pay $1.2 mil for him that would be a huge mistake.

Which is what shits me the most, turning him into a controlling halfback is taking away his biggest strength IMO. Sure, coaching him to control the side if needed is great but not as his primary purpose in the team....we want him to be a running 5/8th. We need to be signing a half to compliment him and that isn't Jack Bird.

Fantastic player but if we sign him on those kind of dollars I would lose my shit.

Bird is a good prospect but one thing that worries me, he doesn't seem overly loyal. Looking for his third club at his age says to me he is just in it for the money and will turn his back on you if anything is slightly off. I won't be dissapointed if we don't get him, especially for that cash.

Seriously, I'd be looking at Hutchinson or Hastings...they can't seem to get a look in, so I doubt they'd be asking for much, and they do have potential. Could be a decent stop gap to see how they go until we can get someone better. Don't rate Bird as a halves partner for Milford either.

If theír season keeps going the way it has, he'd have to think about coming back or face some dire times ahead. Unless there are some great signings in the works, that is. They dont seem to be clicking as a franchise.
